Here we go again

8 weeks, 3 days post op
Since my horrible experience with the egd a week ago, a lot has happened. The doctor told me my opening was only 6 mm and it's supposed to be 11 mm, but you may remember the difficulties I had with a perforation just on the other side of the opening and all the severe pain that went with it because of the gas and backteria that ended up in my abdomen.
So I went back to the surgeon on Friday and had me admitted to the hospital again. On Saturday, under general anesthetic, he did a laparoscopy and an egd and was able to stretch the opening to 10 mm. He washed everthing out around my intestines and then put in a drain which I still have. Lovely. I was in the hospital until yesterday.
He says that next week, a week from today, I will have the laparoscy and egd again to stretch the opening to 11 mm and to make sure the drain did its work and remove it if all is well. Now I'm back on a thin liquid diet. Someday I may be able to eat again.
This is way harder than I thought it would be, and I was anticipating some difficulties. I am avoiding calling my office to tell them I'll be off for the next 2 weeks. Sigh.

So sorry to hear about all your issues! I'm like you, I know there may be complications and am very lucky that ive not experienced any yet. But I'm only 7 weeks out. And hoping I never do...
It's good to know your work is being so good about your needed time off. Take good care of yourself, k? All the best to you!

Wow, that is so horrible. I'm sorry to hear this! You sound very patient about it all. I would freak out if I had to go under anesthesia again and miss 2 more weeks of work. It would use up all of my remaining time off for the year! I'm glad your employer is being understanding and I'm sorry this is happening. It's my worst fear. My surgeon mentioned this as a possible complication but it sounded so remote I thought that neither I nor anyone I came across would have this problem. Wrong! I'm sorry to hear this and I hope you hang in there and feel better soon.
