Confused about sugar amounts
I am so confused about the sugar amount I should be eating. The NUT told me but I can't wrap my head around it. I bought some protein bars today it said 12g. What is the max amount of sugar you will eat with a meal. Does your meal have a max of sugar, protein (guess we don't really have a max for this do we?) and carbs? Oh and fat too? If so what are the guidelines you go by. Maybe seeing it in black and white will help me. I am so scared I am going to screw this up and dump or get sick. This surgery has me so scared about what I put in my mouth this is going to be a awesome tool!

I will not go above 15 grams of sugar and stay below that most of the time.
I do not have a max for carbs or fat. Mostly I eat stuff that is low in fat but I do use whole raw milk and sometimes eat full fat cheese. I limit the starchy carbs like bread and rice but eat them sometimes. When I can, I have whole grain bread or brown rice, but I eat the white stuff sometimes.

For a quick reference, do 5-5-5.... that is read labels, etc. If a serving has more than 5 grams sugar and or 5 grams fat, put it back. If it has less than 5 g sugar and or fat BUT more than 5 grams of protein, you can eat it.
Keeps it really simple. I don`t count carbs per se, but I do read them on the label...if it is say 23 grams I know I don`t want it. I am trying to keep my carbs under 40 a day, just my preference. I also don`t eat the bad white stuff...bread, crackers, potatoes, rice, pasta and find healthy alternatives (IE - strips of zucchini to replace lasagna noodles, Shiratake (tofu) noodles if I want something pasta-y)......

Everyone has a different tolerance level as far as dumping goes. I had 4g of sugar and had my first dumping experience so I basically have ZERO tolerance for sugar
As far as carbs, I try to stay between 30 and 40 but we know the "white stuff" is bad for us and I try to eat as low fat as possible although I can not stomach low fat cheeses and I have tried them all.
Good luck and I hope this helps
