Never in my life would I have thought I'd be saying I'm sick of meat.  I so miss my veggies& fruits, but its protein first.  Which at 4.5 weeks out doesn't leave much room for veggies or fruits.   Just getting the protein & water in is like a full time job.  I constantly feel like I'm eating, drinking & watching the clock. If I don'****ch the clock then I don't hardly eat or drink all day.  Anyone else having meat hate right now? Lol

I don't eat meat.  At all.  Haven't for over 25 years.

There are lots of other foods you can eat for protein.  Still doesn't leave a lot of room for fruits and veggies so early out, though.

I feel your pain.  For a while the eating/drinking is a full time job.  I get sick of meat and don't like beans.  So I still use a shake and/or a bar a day to get all the protein in.

I eat 1/2 c  per meal.   1/4 c is meat, fish, etc.    1/4 c. is veg. or fruit  (eat 2 different ones 1 oz. each).  So far, I'm getting all my protein in.  1 snack is protein  - 1 snack is fruit (just started this but, again, I'm getting in all my protein).  Watching the clock is a big problem!!!  It bothers my mother more than me, though!!  I go over there 4x a week and she says all I do is eat!!    Oh well  -         I do drink 1/2 bottle of protein per day.   Sorry, I like meat!!  Maybe you aren't quite far enough along to fine-tune your diet yet?  You'll get there, I'm not that much ahead of you.                    Best wishes

Don't worry, it gets better.  I am 10 months out now and I have more ability to tolerate a variety of foods, which, YES, includes meat but not exclusively.  Yesterday I had a stuffed pepper and a bean burger and tolerated both just fine.

I'm a semi-vegetarian too .  I think its actually HEALTHY  just anecdotally ... I still have my gallbladder , appendix,, full kidney function etc three years post op.  Never a single twinge of pain  or issue ... I'm a rudely healthy energizer bunny so far ...

the only bad thing about eating rice and beans  for protein is they ARE  carbs.  EXPECT to retain a bit of water weight  ( which u CAN DROP ANYTIME  by  swtiching to  a meat or fish n veggie diet ) .  If you can forgive and love your body carrying   that extra ten lbs of water weight ... Ure  a far bigger winner than me though

I had to do a little googling because I'd never heard that a vegetarian diet was likely to cause water retention.  According to Livestrong.com, if you eat a lot of refined carbs (white flour, sugar), particularly without much protein, that can cause water retention.  But eating beans, which are not refined carbs and also have a good amount of protein, should not cause water retention then.  Now, different people may have different experiences, but I don't think vegetarians should expect to carry an extra ten pounds of water weight.  I really don't think I am carrying an extra ten pounds of water, although I'm not positive how I would know if I was.

Maybe you should try eating more non-meat protein sources (beans, dairy, etc.).  It will get better as you get farther out because when you can eat a greater volume of food it is easier to get the protein in and still have room for fruits and veggies.  (You will also get used to the "routine".)  Just hang in there.

I had the same issue at first and even now I really don't eat a lot of meat. I did like eggs and shrimp though and I had non flavored protein mix that I would hide in several items so I got my protein in and had room for things I was craving.
You are right though at first its all about eating drinking and trying not to get constipated.
It gets better.
