I got my surgery Jan /11. I haven't been good about following my diet. I want to get back into the program. I haven't lost any weight since Sept /11.  Is it too late for me? I never thought that I would be the one to not follow the plan. I was so hyped up to get this done, lost 100lbs from my heaviest and was content. Now I'm not, yet I have a hard keeping sugars and **** foods out of my diet. I don't understand why I can't just get it done. What are some tricks that you (yes you ) have done to get back on track. I do not want to do the 5 day pouch test,.

Thanks in advance for the ideas!

Your ticker says goal weight reached?

Anyway... here are my "tricks of the trade" at 6 years out:

1.  Follow the rules. Plain and simple. I have not eaten refined sugar in 6 years. Don't miss it a bit.  Neither would you.

2.  Plan your menu. "Winging it" doesn't work for me - I need structure and a routine.

3.  Track and journal what you're eating.  I still do this everyday on the "what are you eating" thread.  It helps me to stay organized and most of all, HONEST.

4.  Ask for and give support.  The support on this forum is second to none and the face-to-face support groups are invaluable as well.

You said: ..., yet I have a hard keeping sugars and **** foods out of my diet.

I personally would start cutting back one item a day from the list of "sugars and **** foods" that you listed ... taking one item away each day and replacing it with a healthier and more filling choice ... I would try to up my exercise even if it means taking the broom or the vacuum cleaner and blasting the music while engaging in a clean-up workout ... I remember one weekend when I was in the losing phase dropping several pounds by window cleaning ... OMG I never knew my house had so many windows ... but I did not give up .... those awesome pounds lost got me out of a plateau and into onederland....

Whatever you do don't give up ... you can have a jump start by keeping on track ... replace the junk with good choices ... marinate a chicken breast overnight ... bake it in its own juices wrapped in foil or throw it on the grill ... it is high protein and filling ... and delicious ...

Wishing you nothing but the best ... it is never too late ... ...

My surgeons goal weight for me was 177lbs. I run about 11-8lbs give or take under that. I want to reach my personal goal of 140lbs.

Does anyone have any meal or snack ideas that do not include beans? I am, looking for fast or almost no prepare foods. I am so bored with laughing cow cheese, jerky and eggs.

I am planning on making a weekly meal plan that I can follow week after week.

P.S. I am good at the grocery store not buying junk food but my skinny husband keeps bringing them into the house. I think that when I see the crap I am just going to throw it in the garbage. Too bad for him

I think salsa chicken is fast, easy and is easy to eat for a quick meal (add a veggie).

I take a pack *usually 1.5-2 lbs of boneless, skinless chicken thighs (I'm anal about getting all the extra fat off them). Put them in a crockpot, dump in a jar of salsa (your choice about heat, ingredients, etc), cook on low for 8 hours. Right before serving I add 1/2 block of 1/3 reduced fat cream cheese. Then I shred with two forks and eat it for about a week. It's good in a bowl, good in a wrap, good on a bed of salad. Hell, it's just good!

turkey, roast beef, chicken, greek yogurt (yuck), etc. I have discovered the wonders of salsa - only 10 calories for 2 tablespoons; it adds a lot of taste to eggs & chicken. Plus I have allowed myself fake nachos (made with special k crackers & mini babybel cheese melted over them).

Quest Protein Bars.  I am in love with Chocolate Brownie.  It tastes like junk food to me with 20 grams of protein, 19 grams of fiber, no sugar alcohols, 5 active carbs all from nuts, not sugar.  I use for a 170 calorie snack or if I want dessert after a meal.
