When to come home from hospital

Usually you do have to be able to urinate, but since you are not eating solids, many surgeons don't require a BM.  Check to see what your surgeon's guidelines are.

I agree with Lora. BM wasn't required for me but urination was.

I didnt have to go #2, but I did have to pee...

 Had to pee, poop, and pass gas! (I had an open RNY).

I had to do none of the above. I had the option of going home the day after or taking the 2nd day. I stayed 2 days and let the nurses take care of me. I have small children so it was well worth it to have that day to recouperate.

I agree lol! I have little ones too so the extra nights in the hospital were like a mini-vacation.

I had to be able to urinate and at least feel like I had to pass gas. I was able to urinate by day 2 but I ended up staying for 3 nights because of no glassy feelings.

I didnt have to have a BM but they did track my fluid intake and output. I actually didnt have a BM for 13 days after surgery. I didnt take anything and it came naturally. I did pass alot of gas but it was difficult. I didnt feel uncomfortable from not having a bm but I was told 13 days was way to long.
