Calorie Counting.......
Hey everyone!
So as always here in the land of AE (Armed Forces Europe) the information I am receiving from my so called "Professionals" is conflicting with itself again! Before I ask my question please note:
* I no longer have access to my surgeon.
* There is no proper form of support where I live. ( I know it sounds ridiculous but honest to god I don't even have a support group)
* There is also no GBP certified nutritionalist! The nutritionalist I have to see is certified for soldiers health.
So with that said, HELP haha! I am almost 7 months post op, and I am tracking and counting my calories the old fashion way ( in a book). But I am at a loss with what my calorie goals should be. according to my Primary Care Specialist (Something like your regular doctor) I should be staying around 600. However According to my Nutritionalist (who might I add is not very knowledgeable in GBP) I should try to eat 800-900 a day. This also with only 15Og of carbs and 15-20g of fat. I am finding that 600 calories a day is not really satisfying me and 900 is too much grrr.
So I guess I am wondering what everyone else was doing around there 7th month?
I am at a yr out now and I am hitting 1000-1100 a day in calories. I log mine daily on myfitnesspal.com
at 67 months out I was at about 800-900 daily. Somedays I got it in some days I didnt.
Carbs I am still under 100 a day. I dont keep track of fat so cant help you there. I do get in 100-130 grams of protein a day depending on if I am working out or not that day.

150 gr carbs= 400 cal, 20 gr of fat = 80 calories... how many proteins you get?
You may need to up your proteins - and then would need to lower the carbs - so overall you calories should be the same.
Some people do OK on more carbs - some do not . I don't. I need to get more than 100 gr of proteins of my blood level gets low. And I gain weight if I eat too many carbs (but I do not exercise a lot) Most days I do not count fats. Proteins and carbs, But at the same time - I get sick when i eat too many fats at one meal - so I keep that in check naturally.

- *Eat no fat/lowfat dairy products
- *Eat simple (fruit) and complex (vegetables, whole grains) Carbohydrates (I do not count daily grams)
- *No more than 15 grams of Sugar per meal (more grams if able to tolerate-I allow myself no more than a maximum of 30 grams Sugar per meal from Simple and Complex Carbohydrate sources because I do not seem to dump on Sugar)
- *Eat 3 main meals (B, L, D) no further than 5-6 hours apart
- *Eat 1 protein snack at 1200 calories a day at least 2-3 hours from breakfast
- *Eat 2-3 protein snacks at Maintenance calories a day at least 2-3 hours from B, L, D
