I tried yogurt for the first time tonight. I don't know if I have the "right" yogurt or not...I just ate yoplait whips. It's smooth, no chunks and has 5 grams of protein..It also has 25 carbs and 21 grams of sugar. Is that too High?? I meet with the nutritionist wednesday and will get a more detailed list of what is recommended. All they really said was clear liquids for the first week then add cream soups, yogurt and suger free pudding. I have seen people talking about greek yogurt but this is all I had in the house. I've never tried greek yogurt, I heard its sour.

21 grams of sugar is way too much- very likely to cause you problems.
Try plain Greek yogurt (which is higher in protein) and mix the powdered
sugar-free jello pudding mix in it with a little milk to thin it down a bit.
It's delish!  Greek yogurt is less sour to me than regular yogurt because
I hate yogurt but eat my flavored Greek yogurt all the time.  Try the
cheesecake or lemon or pistachio jello pudding mix. I slice a few
banana slices or some no-sugar-added pie cherries on top.

Yes, the Yoplait Whips have extra sugar added and may make you sick (and, even if it does not make you sick, it has more calories than other kinds of yogurt).  It is also pretty low in protein.  You can get Dannon Oikos Greek yogurt in vanilla, strawberry, and raspberry (fruit mixed in NOT the fruit on the bottom type) and they are not sour at all.  They have about 150 calories, 20g of carbs, and 12g of protein.  I think the fruit on the bottom types are still sour even after you mix them up.

The Dannon Lite N Fit yogurt still has only 6g of protein (80 calories) but is lower in sugar and carbs than the Yoplait.

Lora has good points. Check them out and see what works for you.
Your NUT will give you direction, but 10 grams or less of sugar
won't be likely to get you into trouble. It's very hard to find yogurt
that fits that bill, but check them out. I use Oikos or Fage Greek
yogurt...it's very creamy and smooth and NOT sour like
traditional yogurt.  You can also use sugar-free flavored Torani-
type syrups to flavor it. Good luck!

I would say this is WAY TOO MUCH sugar. I keep my sugars to single digits, my carbs below 25. That much sugar and I'd be dumping.

Greek yogurt is high n protein, but you must learn to check the label on everything, best if you do it before you purchase, and check serving size. If it's double digit on the sugars, it's likely not going to help n your weight loss, and you might dump. Even if you don't dump... it'll slow your weight loss and promote eating foods that aren't really that good for you (with too much sugar)
