First Post Op Trip to Walmart
I find I am shocked and amazed by the huge portions everywhere! Most entrees in restaurants are enough for two people or more-- and certainly would feed four WLS patients. Even the sizes of soft drinks are enormous! Who needs to drink a quart of soda? When I was a kid, a 12 oz bottle of soda was never meant for one person!-- always poured into glasses, and then shared.
One of the best things I did for myself following surgery was to order my groceries online- no more impulse buying, and if I have them delivered, no chances of eating junk in the car on the way home.

I use a local grocery delivery service, but I see there are others across the country-- try Peapods, or Coburns-- don't know what's in your area.
I love getting my groceries this way! I plan out my menus, order what is needed for those recipes, as well as my staples. I can save a 'favorites' list and just click to re order. They use personal shoppers who actually go through the supermarket and select what you have ordered, then deliver it to my door. I've never been disappointed- and can use the store circular online for weekly specials.
I live in a condo, so grocery shopping entails finding time to go to the store, driving there, shopping, driving home. Unload groceries from car to grocery cart, up the elevator, put away, take cart back down elevator. I can order groceries from anywhere I have internet-- even order when I am out of town and schedule the delivery for a day/time when i know my husband will be home. It's terrific! Well worth the delivery fee.

My RNY was 3-12-12. I totally feel your pain. I have to cook for my 6 yr old and my husband and it is torture! I won't lie and say I haven't taken a bite of things I am not supposed to and spit it out as not to swallow it but that makes it worse cause you so want to eat it. To make things worse The Food Network channel is my favorite channel! Hang in there it has to get better for all of us!

I feel your pain, I cook for 6 everyday. My kids eat like horses but are active and under or normal weigh, so often I make 3 main dishes a meal one for me solid food, one for fiancee mushies and four for the kids. All I can say is it gets better, now I think what I want to eat (healthy stuff) and don't mind the kids stuff at all.
