Congrats to you all!!! I really didn't mind the liquid diet before surgery. I just kept telling myself that this is the beginning of the rest of my new life. This surgery was the best thing I could have ever done for myself. Make sure you take chapstick with you the day of surgery because your lips will be extremely dry. I wont lie, you will be in a lot of pain the first few days, but after that, you will bew good to go. I wish you all the best of luck...................and welcome to the Losers Bench!!!!

Congrats Everyone! My friend had her surgery yesterday and I talked to her after surgery and today and she said the pain wasn't bad at all for her. She also had a hernia and they had to cut on her for that. But she said when she had her gall bladder removed 20 years ago, she said now that hurt! So I am so happy for her! I have my surgery May 7th so I am getting so excited! The nausea at first is what she said was bad but once they gave her a shot for the nausea she was much better. They got her up last night at 10 p.m. and she walked up and down the hallway. She is one strong cookie! Also her mouth was so dry, but they give you the little sponges to swab the mouth. I know she is so glad this part is behind her. We have both walked the road for the last year together so now she is off to her new life! Neither one of us are youngsters (hahahha I am dating myself time wise) she is 50 and I am 59.
we were so fortunate not having any problems with approval, insurance none. Anyway, just wanted to share some joy with all of you out there! Jane in California

Thanks so much! I do have one question. How long does this surgery itself take?
Yeah Cathy! Isn't it great getting your surgery date?!! I just had my surgery on 4/3/12 and I have to tell you I did alot of stressing for nothing! Because I am older (63) I had many concerns many people don't have. Because of this I also started loosing weight on my own. I was happy the morning of surgery I had lost 39#'s! This only made things better & safer for me. You will be so happy you lost some of your weight prior because it is helping getting you ready for post op habits! I am so glad I did what I did. I am sure you will be also. Congrats on your surgery date - keep doing what you are doing. If I can be of any help message me!! FoxyMomMa

Hi Cathy,
Surgery takes about an hour. Have you gone to your pre-op meeting? That is where you will get all the information about everything while you are in the hospital. Best wishes! Jane in California
