Night 1 of life with my friend C-Papi as my kids and I call him
Well I hooked myself up at 9 so my kids could all see me before they went to bed in case they came down in the middle of the night. I didn't want to scare them. They were up past bedtime with the timechange and the light outside we are always running late with dinner and bedtime stuff. Anyway they all thought I looked like a freak and left. My husband was in the bathroom he came out and just looked at me shook his head giggled some and walked out of the room. He came back a few minutes later (I am sure he went out to the man cave or somewhere to laugh his head off) and came back and said so this thing is on you all night? Wow I can really hear you breathing. I said yep shaking my head and I decided to talk so he could hear what the air sounds like rushing out he said OK Stop talking keep breathing LOL. I watched tv as I was falling asleep he got in bed normally we are snugglers in bed when we sleep. He rolled over patted my back and rolled back over. We slept back to back LMBO. Good thing we can't have kids for at least 18 months out, good thing we have 4 and he is done....me not so much yet but I guess I have to be. I couldn't sing I am sexy and I know it with that thing on so I lasted 4 hours I took it off at 1ish am. I get up at 3am for work. The dr called this am to check on me I told him he said good you did it for 4 hours that is the minimum we want to see. He said it will get easier. I didn't ask him if me and my husband would ever have sex again after seeing me like this. Watching me give birth was ok watching me and hearing me sleep with a headgear on just totally freaks him out. Go figure....;-)

It's been a year, and my DH is now OK with the CPAP. I don't put on my "Darth Vader" mas****il I'm ready to fall asleep, and I'm usually asleep within minutes after that. DH likes the fact that I sleep with less kicking/jerking and overall disruptive movement. DH's big issue is the "gale force wind" that wakes him up when I roll over, because of the air pressure comming out.
If the mask is too uncomfortable after a couple of weeks of trying, work with your doc to find one that is comfortable. It's not to bad to get used to a good fitting mask, and you may not need it after you lose a lot of weight.
After I lost a lot of weight, I was able to move to a smaller mask, but I still have sleep apnea. Looking back, I probably had sleep apnea since I was a very young child, so the added weight did not help, but now I am one of the many thin folks with sleep apnea!

Ive been using a CPAP Machine for about 6 months now and I am amazed at the results. At first it is a pain in the butt geting use to the mask, the hose, and the constant air pressure but after a week or so I started to feel better and had more energy. I used to have trouble staying awake and being alert at work. Often I would fall asleep while my boss was talking to me, haha. Since I started using my CPAP my enery levels have gone up. I'm more alert and feel really good about myself. Ive also had enough energy to work both of my jobs, go to the gym or workout, and still have energy to enjoy time with my fiance and 2 year old daughter. One word of advise is to clean the rubbery clear part of your mask often so it doesnt start to smell a little funky.
