Is this part of the overall recovery process?

After I was discharged from the hospital on FRI 6 APR 2012 and was continuing the recovery/healing process at home, for the next few days I would invariably need to take a nap at some point during the day...however, since then, the need to do so has been rare in that as I've regained more strength, I feel the I've also regained some stamina....

Yesterday, I had to drop off some last-minute documents to our CPA which meant driving in Chicago traffic (something that is highly stressful and taxing of one's energy even if not recovering from major surgery as anyone else living here can tell you)...and yet, when I got home, I felt fine...had a snack, dinner a couple hours later and then to bed at approx 10 pm when I was truly tired and ready to go to sleep....

Today, after walking and feeding the dog in the mid-afternoon, I was wiped out a mere hour or so later and needed that nap...

I'm guessing that the occasional wiped-out-for-no-apparent-reason-other-than-still-recovering-from-major-surgery feeling is just randomly going to present itself.

Anyone else have any insight?

Thanks so much in advance.

I am 10 weeks out and still have days where I feel more weak than others. I think you are still healing and your body may just need a break.

Since every doctor's recommendations are different I have to ask did you eat anything that would raise  your blood sugar? any carbs or sugars? The only reason i ask is I'm insulin resistant and if I eat carbs at all at this point I spike up and drop down and have to nap within an hour of eating

If not I'd guess it's just healing.

That's an excellent question...for my snack, I managed to put away three (3) saltines with some peanut butter and sugar-free strawberry preserves...I suppose that the saltines could have done it, but it didn't occur to me at the time...

Sounds like normal recovery to me. I had days where I couldn't sit down I had so much energy, then I would all of a sudden feel like I just got unplugged. Just your body's way of getting what it needs.

Beware saltines, they are so easy to eat but can tend to become overly used if you know what I mean, I had to throw my box away.   Totally empty carbs so be careful :)

As far as energy I had the same highs and lows.  I'm 6 weeks out and just had two days in a row without a nap for the first time, tomorrow I'm trying for 3!
