BCBS Fed Approval Timeframe

Ok so I have May all planned out with family here from the 1st to 23rd of May. I go for my last medically supervised weight loss appt on next Fri. When the surgeon called they said you could potentially have it the last day of April or beginning of May. So does BCBS Fed approve fast? What has been your experience with them if you have them?

All I keep thinking is watch I will get approved and not be able to have the surgery until the 24th....story of my life LOL.

I am on a liquid diet that I put myself on and eating 1 piece of chicken a night to work on getting more weight off. This medically supervised diet is for the birds!

Usually once the doctor's office has faxed everything the insurance company requires, it only takes about a week to get your approval/date.

i have fed bcbs...they denied on 12-9...and then resubmitted on the 12-17...i had my answer on 12-26...the first chance the doctor could do the procedure was 1-16...so if all your paperwork is in tact, sounds as tho you will be good to go...good luck to you...besides lasik surgery on my eyes...this is the BEST thing i've ever done for ME!!!

I got approval the first time by BCBS Fed it took 30 days from the time the paper work was submitted.  I called them and they told me they have 30 days.  I received my approval letter on day 31.  Good Luck!!!!!!

I have fepblue as my secondary insurance and they approved me before my primary did!

it only took 3 days.

Good morning, Michelle...i was denied because my PCP did not submit the appropriate paperwork for my 3 month doctor supervised weight loss...the person in his office that was in charge of sending the office visits to my surgeon, omitted one month's visit...i wasnt aware of this, till the surgeons office emailed me to let me know that bcbs denied the procedure...so, be sure your doctor is on top of this kinda thing...it was just human error.

 Whew ok good. My PCP told me last year she wouldn't approve me so the surgeons office had me use his Dr and she sends it electronically to the office before I even get home. He said she knows what I need and the wording so I hope he is right!

I just have my last appt Fri and we are a go!!!! I am so excited!
