Broccoli :(
I have been wanting broccoli for a couple weeks..finally got the ok from the dr to try it today. I ate the same fish I've eaten several times without any trouble and once ounce of broccoli and right away my throat started gurgling. After about 10 minutes I knew I was going to throw up and ran to the bathroom. It was very very close but I was able to breathe my way through it and avoided throwing up. It took about 15 minutes for it to pass. I'm so bummed. I want to eat broccoli! My husband asked if I chewed it enough...I probably didn't. I overcooked it so it was pretty soft but I don't remember counting my bites. I hope that was the problem. Anyone else have problems with broccoli? I threw it all away..I had planned on eating it for a couple days. I'm not giving up..I think I am going to buy some more and give it another shot in a couple days.

I haven't. But then, I haven't had problems with anything except eating more than I should. I know one extra bite more than I should have can really make my pouch unhappy.
I hope that was the problem for you--broccoli sure is delicious! :D

Broccoli is very fibrous and was one of the LAST things to get added back into my diet post-op. I didn't have any trouble, but I didn't eat any until about 3-4 months out.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
My plan is quite progressive - I was allowed cooked veggies at two weeks post op - but no raw veggies for two months. However, broccoli can be a tough one. Some people always have issues with cruciferous veggies like broccoli and califlower. It's harder to digest even on non-RNY systems. Gas is the biggest issue with it. Cooking it well early out helped me. I am a broccoli fiend. I love it. I'd die if I couldn't have it. Give yourself some time and try it again when you are a bit further out. I love mine steamed in lemon juice and a bit of salt - yum!

I started being allowed broccoli at 6 weeks, but I have been a little leary of new foods so I only tried a tiny bit at a time. It still makes me feel bloated and I have gas pain. I am choosing to only eat small amounts until my body tolerates it a little better.
I know what you mean! I miss my raw broccoli, bell peppers, cucumbers, spinach, and carrots. I don't like cooked veggies so it will be a while before I can have them again. Doc said about 2 months.
