Home from the hospital
I had my gallbladder removed yesterday at noon and I just got home from the hospital. I've had 3 c sections, a lap. gastric bypass and then this surgery and by far this has been the most painful recovery I've ever gone through. When I woke up in the recovery room I gave an "8" as my pain level and could hardly catch my breath because the pain was so bad. When I got to my hospital room I was so dizzy/light headed I thought I was going to pass out. I was unable to sit or stand without aid until this morning. Once they switched me from the IV pain medicine to pills the dizziness went away. I believe being unable to get up and walk yesterday has made this recovery more difficult.
It was next to impossible to get anything I could eat at all..they had me down as a regular diet and kept sending carb and sugar loaded options and I kept sending them back. They checked my blood sugar at one point and it was at 162 probably due to the sugar laced IV they were giving me(at least thats my guess).
Long story short..I'm so glad to be home and I hope my recovery gets easier now that I am here.

I hope you feel better quickly.
I had my gall bladder out over ten years before my lap RNY. The gall bladder removal was so much easier for me. Way less painful. The RNY was so painful I could have cried.
It's so strange how something so similar, gall bladder removals vs RNY ends up being so different in pain from person to person even with the same surgeon.

Hi Threepugs, (Do you really have three pugs? I have one and I looove pugs)
anyhoo, rapid weight loss sometimes leads to the build up of gallstones and sludge, so out comes the gallbladder.
For Lana and Manda, I agree. My gallbladder recovery was much worse than the RNY. Could be because I had it so soon after RNY. The surgeon said he thought it was because my gallbladder was inflamed. Oh, the fun. Get better soon.
