hmm... the only time I have issue with that problem - and I am over 50... is when I use splenda or other artificial sweeteners and flavorings.  It takes 1-2 weeks with no artificial stuff for my bladder to stop be angry with me...
One serving once in a while (once a week??) is not an issue - but more than that - and I can't hold it in. I think some stuff just irritates my bladder... maybe be some sort of food allergy - or any additives allergy.
(most SF stuff have splenda or sacralose or Nutrasweet or other things added)

Bladder Irritants Believe it or not, many foods, drinks and medications can be irritable to the lining of the bladder. The irritation can lead to causing urinary frequency, urgency, and even bladder spasms, which can result in uncontrollable loss of urine. Every bladder irritant doesn’t affect every person. Different people may find some products irritating while others are not.

The following list of foods are well-known bladder irritants. By eliminating or significantly decreasing your intake of them from your diet you will most likely notice an improvement in your bladder symptoms.

 Caffeine (colas, coffee, teas and diet pills)

 Chocolate

 Alcoholic Beverages

 Cigarettes

 Spicy or heavily seasoned foods

 Acidic foods (oranges, lemons, peaches, pineapple, plums, apples, cantaloupe and cranberry*)

 Tomatoes, chilies, peppers, onions

 Yogurt, aged cheese, sour cream

 Vinegar, walnuts, peanuts

 Most artificial sweeteners

 Vitamin C

 MSG

*Many people think that cranberry juice is healthy of the bladder. On the contrary, cranberry is helpful to the bladder that is infected. Most people who have irritable bladders will make the irritation worse by drinking cranberry juice.

yikes I eat tons of peppers, onions, tomatoes, etc!  wow
The only time I have had an issue is working out at the gym if I jump rope or do jump pull-ups. I have to stop and go take a pit stop or it would get embarassing.

They may be OK for you. I have no issue with them. And they are great.
But for some people - they may irritate their bladder.

I do have to carry pants and spare panties when I drink drinks with artificial stuff... For a while I di dnot know what was the deal.  age?  but once I discontinuded the artifical sweeteners and flavors (due to skin issue - I break up in horrible hives) - suddenly I stop having leaks...  When I use artifical stuff - the skin problem comes back and so the bladder irritation...

Thank you for this! I always put those crystal clear flavors in my water. IM going to try and stop using them and see if it helps. I also eat a lot of cheese and oranges.

I would eliminate one thing at a time until it get better.. or eliminate all of them until its gone and then add them back one at a time to figure out exactly what causes it.

Frances is right.  Try to eliminate some things - best completely for at least 1-2 weeks.

I noticed that after app 1 weeks off the artificial stuff.  Then one day I added that (drank a lot of crystal light) and have a really problem.  After that I also did experiment with sucralose - and one drink once every 2-3 days was fine, but even 2-3 diet drinks based on Splenda made me very uncomfortable (like barely made it to the bathroom).

In worse case - try to eliminate most of the offending foods for a week - and if symptoms gets better - then you can try to add one item per week...

Very interesting!  I had no idea food could do that... thought it was all about those muscles down there.  Learn something new every day!
