Dumping test?
Even if you dumped, that would not prevent you from eating sugar. I dump, but I can eat about 15 grams of sugar before it bothers me. That means I could eat a couple of Oreos or even one of those giant shortbread cookies at Panera (hmmmm) without dumping. And some people eat sugar even knowing they are likely to dump on it. Surgery isn't a substitute for will power.
Now, I do understand where you're coming from. I'm actually glad I do dump. And I didn't test it to find out, I found out on accident when I ate something that had more sugar than I realized. But I do appreciate that knowing I dump gives me an added incentive to avoid sugar, at least in large amounts.
But I agree with Nik, you do have at least some will power. Now's the time to figure out how to use that to your advantage.

High Fructose Corn Syrup, especially in something that also has fats in it (highly processed foods) and I dump super fast and super bad.
However not all sugar grams are equal.
I remember one week I was sick with a bad head cold, and hubby brought me lunch each day (he has a microwave ni his classroom, and I don't) and the first four days I read the label, but the last day I didn't, and by the time I was two thirds done with the soup, I thought I was literally going to die. I kept thinking, "Wow, I was feeling sick when I came to work, but I had no idea I'd start feeling like I was going to die." Then I looked at the label. Most of the soups hubby had given me had 10 to 12 g of sugar but the tomato soup had 24 g of sugar! I was dumpng at about 16 grams.
Then the next day I was nibbling my dark chocolate (at that time I allowed myself a single square a day, two or three grams of sugar).... I got to messing around on the internet, and instead of breaking the bar up and putting the rest away for future snacks, I just unthinkingly ate the whole thing. When I realized what I'd done, I was amazed I didn't dump, especially as the label said it had the exact same number of sugar grams as the soup.

I chased my dreams, and my dreams, they caught me!

One of two things will happen when you test for dumping:
1. You will dump.
2. You will not dump.
Now, one of two things will probably happen with either of these outcomes as well:
1. You will dump and continue to eat sugar.
2. You will dump and NOT eat sugar.
OR
1. You will NOT dump and will continue to eat sugar.
2. You will NOT dump and NOT eat sugar.
Where did testing it actually get you? In my personal experience I have never attempted to test if I dumped. I just run on the assumption that I will, and leave it at that. A little over two years post op and I'm still abstaining from added sugars and doing just fine.
Now, so people incorporate small amounts of sugar back into their diet post op. I can't be one of those people because I know the power that sugar can have over me. There is no little bit for me, but this is something that you have to decide for yourself. If you find out you don't dump, is it manageable? Can you moderate? I can't - so I live with the assumptions.

Only because I'm scared to death to dump..I would probably be one of the ones to not try it ever..only because I was diabetic pre op..and post op ive been off all my meds...i dont want to go there.
