Ok So my one year surgiversary is coming up on the 24th and I really feel like I'm losing too much weight!  I know I NEVER could have imagined those words coming out of my mouth, but here it is.  I'm afraid to try and eat more and start gaining...but I'm afraid if I keep losing I'll look anorexic!

Anyone experience this??

Did the give you a maintenance eating plan? Or maybe at your year mark, the surgeon will help you come up with one. Stick to that and you should be fine.

What was/is your goal weight?
I am short, 5 '1 , I stayed at 127 for 2 years and was happy with that,
then I started losing again and I am currently 115-12-ish.

Did your surgeon and yourself discuss your goal weight?

Talk with your surgeon , or a nutrionist .

Cracking me up Kasey!

I had that thought too.  My goal was 172 and I was down to about 165 and I talked to my NUT about it.  She said that for my weight/height I could lose another 20 or 25 and be right where the "chart" says I should be.

I did and I love it!  I am two years out and stay between 142 and 147.

My friends say I am too thin sometimes, but all they knew was me big before.

First what is your height.

Please talk to your dietician and find a maintenance plan if you don't want to lose more. I lost another 5 pounds from  my 1 year to 1 1/2 year and 2 more pants size

My surgeon does not give goal weights because he says the body does its own thing.  I set a goal for myself of 146 but when I readhed iT  I kept on losing. I got down as low as 119 whic was much too thin for my age.

I had always thought I had a large frame.  Not so sure now.My advice is to keep going.  You might need that cushion in the event of bounceback.

and I HOPE that when I reach my 1 year surgiversary I am thin! lol. I've never been thin in my life..so I might faint when somebody says those words. matter of fact..if somebody who knew me before losing weight said I was too thin..i'd smile and probably say "why thank you..I wonder why you didnt tell me i was too fat when I was gaining weight!!!" smile and walk off.. lol

there is a difference between thin and tooooo thin.  I started at 260 and at 2 years postop I was at a perfect place at 170 (I had gotten to 160 at 14months but I had a little bounce back but I was still perfectly happy where I was) Then all hell broke loose and I got really sick will all sorts of really serious complications and 2 months, I got down to 122 pounds - down 48 pounds in 2 months.  I was dangerously thin - totally skin and bones - I looked like I just came out of a concentration camp.  I had to be fed through a tube directly into my remnant stomach to get high calorie and super high protein supplementation in addition to what I was eating = and very little I was absorbing.  I had a large part of my colon removed and a small part of my small intestines removed.  after 2 months of the tube feedings  - I coulding stand it anymore and I swore I would try to eat as much as possible to try to gain some weight on my own.  I had to on my own get to 130 to start or I had to go back on the tube feedings.  At first I lost again, but I slowly started to gain a little but it was tough - I had to eat enormous amounts of food and I just couldnt do it most of the time.  I did my best and it took me 1 year to get to 140 and now another  3 months and I am at 155 and happy where I am but it hasnt' been easy.  I finally am getting comments that I am looking better, not so sickly looking all the time.

So, yes we can loose too much and get too thin.  In the process I lost almost all my hair and had to wear a wig for a long time - it has finally grown back quite a bit and I just cut off the bottom with all the thin, ragget hairs and it looks so much better but it took since the First surgery was Oct 2010 and the final one was Feb. 2011 when it got to its worst.

So, I do hope you get where you want but dont try to lose too much - it isn't always much fun or healthy.

you say you have lost too much weight?  your tracker says you are at goal?  I am a little confused.  Where have you lost too much?

If you are at goal and trying to figure out how to deal with maintainance, that is something we all deal with.  You have to learn to eat healthy meals through the day - eating 5 to 6 small meals every 3 hours including protein at every meal.  Once you get in the protein, then you can add vegetables, salad, a little bit if starch  or fruit depending on how much room you have.  You have to figure out what you want to allow yourself for the day  - 2 or 3 fruits? 1 or 2 starches - a potatoe, a little pasta or a sandwich for lunch.   There is a lot of juggling and you have to figure out over time what your body can handle without gaining.  You know what you eating know that is causing you to lose weight, add a little bit - maybe 100 or 200 calories and see how it goes.  then adjust from there but make sure there is protein at every meal.  Some people, if they werent eating enough when you add more food will start to lose weight, so if that is the case, you might have to add even more.

It takes a few months but it is all trial and error but it is the best way to see what works best for you.

Make sure to weight yourself every few days but not everyday because you have variations daily based on fluid retention.  I wish you the best. Good luck.

I  did loose way too much weight last year and with alot of hard work, I finally gained it back.  Good luck, you can do it.  Just work at it.  You can also add good fats and some good carbs.
