Since I never had to do a liquid diet, I have no advice. But 8 weeks?? That sounds so excessive! I can't imagine. I feel for you, love.

You're going to do it because this surgery is important to you. I know it is. Eight weeks is a long time on liquids, huh? It's not going to be easy. But it's only eight weeks. Compared to the rest of your life with this wonderful tool that will help you lose this weight and keep it off and do all these wonderful things you can't do now. It's not a bad trade.
It usually gets a little easier after the first few days, but that doesn't mean it's easy. Drink a lot. Drink different flavors. Try hot drinks, sometimes that seems more satisfying. Get some sugar free popsicles.
And just stay focused on why you're doing it.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
It will definitely be easier after surgery han it is pre-op, but I will be honest... Even as motivated as I was to get my weight off and make good use of my surgery, I don't think I could have tolerated 8 weeks of liquids. I kow i cold not have, in fact. I would have "cheated". I was very glad that my surgeon allows people to start soft foods on Day 3 (assuming the clear liquids on Day 1 and full liquids in Day 2 were not a problem). I personally feel like it gave me an immediate sense of victory in terms of being able to make healhy food choices.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

It's 8 weeks till regular food, but do you also have pureed and soft food stages after surgery? I am three weeks out and on pureed foods. I will begin my soft food stage next week, and then in four weeks can move (slowly) to eating small amounts of regular foods. Let me tell you something... at this time I couldn't care less if I ate or not! Seriously, it's almost like a bother to me to have to stop drinking, wait, eat that tiny amount of pureed food, wait again, and then be allowed to drink something again. I force myself to do it so I stay with my surgeon's program.
Considering that I used to be HUNGRY from about 10:30 a.m. and I wanted to eat all day until after I had a huge dinner in the evening, I gotta say, I really prefer this not being hungry stuff!

Believe me! It won't be bad after your surgery. I had a 5-day preop liquid diet. I can tell you that by time the day before surgery came, I was sick. I was trying to clean for company, but was only on clear liquids for 48 hours before surgery, plus mag citrate. For me, after surgery, it was like a light switch flipped. It's so different. You will be more focused on figuring out what and how to eat/drink that you won't be thinking much of regular food at least for a couple of weeks, at least I wasn't.
Well the most obvious answer is you are going to go psycho over an 8 week period and make people question your sanity then in about 6-8 months from today you will look back and say it was totally worth it and question how you ever doubted your ability to do it.
