Hey Veterans!!

Okay, here's the deal. I'm 13mos out, and down 112lbs. I can BARELY sit down my tailbone hurts so bad!! It's to the point where I'd rather stand than sit down. But hey, if this is all I have to complain about (and other than my breasts, it is LOL) I'm totally fine with it. Was my butt THAT big before? LOL

Has anybody else had this problem?

YES! and I can actually feel it protruding. I swear it's in a different place than most peoples because it moved when I was overweight or something. I dunno, but it hurts a lot.

I've been having terrible pain in my bottom also! driving me crazy!! it's the bone in the left cheek that kills me. oh and sitting on the toilet kills both sides. Is this normal? I've thought about calling my orho dr. and see if a shot of cortisone would help. I didn't think my butt was that big before but this beginning to be a real problem. We're driving to Alaska ( with 5th wheel camper) in July and I can't begine to imagine how I'm going to manage that!!  I haven't had many complaints either until this started.. oh and I would complain about my boobs but that is not a "hurt" per say, more of a disappearing act! Or I inherited tube socks instead of my boobs... but at least they don't hurt like my butt does.. HELP!

OH MY you just scared me half to death! We are being transferred to Montana in three weeks. We live in El Paso now, and that's about a FIVE DAY car trip across the ENTIRE country... With three kids, and ME driving! Great. (Clicking on the link for the butt pillow on Amazon...)

Are you seriously considering calling the doctor? I thought it was more of an inconvenience and a... wait for it... "pain in the butt"... but if it has the potential to get really bad, maybe I should call in just to check and see if there's anything they can do?

I'm only 5 months out and had to buy a special pillow with a cutout for my tailbone. OMG the pain is horrible. The pillow has helped alot.

HEre is a link to the pillow I got from amazon.

I had the same thing, but around 7 months out it started to fade and is about gone now.  So there is hope it will go away eventually.

I agree  with you about the breasts (or where they used to be!).

You've lost your padding and I'm sure you're also sitting differently now too. I had that problem, but it got better and I never have a problem now. I guess my tailbone got accustomed to the new butt!

My husband used to tell me all the time that his butt hurt after he had sat for a while and I didn't get it since I never felt that----but after hitting the loss of 100 pounds I knew what he was talking about.    I went through a time that my butt hurt so bad every time I had to sit.   But it is gone now--I guess your body adjusts to the new butt size.

When it first started happening, I thought I was just sitting on something, but I couldn't be sitting on something in EVERY CAR, every chair, or in my BED. Is your pain more like an ACHE, or like a PIERCING pain? Because I have moments of both kinds, but mine is right in the center, not more on one side than the other.

Is this a serious issue? I thought it was more of a nuisance (like the vanishing act boobs) but nothing really major. But seeing the number of people who have responded, I'm wondering if we aren't stumbling on to something major here. We're kind of going into uncharted waters, so there's a lot of things our doctors don't know to expect yet. We could be helping future patients even if we just call and say something. Maybe?

I did get a rubber "donut" from my orthopedic dr. in March for our trip to AL and GA. We were gone 3 wks and again, with the camper. It helped but I was constantly moving around, adjusting it and either putting more air or releasing air in it. I was driving one time and the pillow wasn't working at all and I had to pull over asap and get on my feet for relief. It has gotten worse in the last few weeks. I've decided to get cushions for all my outdoor furniture, as all of it is HARD on my butt. So, yes, I'm going to be calling my surgeon and asking if this really is normal and probably calling my orthopedic back to see what else he suggests. I looked at the cushion on Amazon and might consider ordering it but it looks too thick. Mine is definitely not my tailbone but the bones that are deep in each butt cheek. ouch~
