Bowel Obstruction
I have to say, the ER staff was excellent. Around 9 Monday night I was transported into Houston and underwent surgery that morning to repair the obstruction. The last few days have been one blurr.

At one point there was a staff change in ER, and the new attending physician mentioned a procedure they could do there. My husband informed him my bariatric surgeon was waiting for CT scans, etc. to be sent fo him for review. The procedure he recommended was not what needed to be done.
Please be informed about the signs and symptoms of bowel obstruction. I am 30 months post of and never imagined this might still be a possibility.
As always....I cannot say enough about the excellent care I received from my bariatric surgeon. The aftercare is as critical as the surgery itself, and this aspect should be front and center when choosing your surgeon.
I hope you are feeling much better now. Thanks for sharing.
I had eaten some peanuts earlier that day for protein. My stomach was a little upset...I thought the peanuts were rancid maybe. I felt perfectly normal other than that. My husband and I were doing a few errands. We came home and made lunch. I sat down to eat and had about 1/2 a sandwich when the pain hit. At first I thought, "oh no I did not chew well." I got up, went into my bedroom and tried to lay on my left side which usually helps if my pouch is upset. But this was totally different. I got up and told my husband to get me into Houston. Five minutes later I knew I would never make the drive. It hit unannounced and instantaneously.
I am still trying to get the meds out of my system. I did not speak with my surgeon at discharge, but spoke with his fellow. I'll get more info at my follow-up.
I felt absolutely normal. I had eaten some peanuts for protein earlier, and my stomach was a little upset. But it was nothing out of the ordinary. My husband and I had to run a few errands and came home to eat. When the pain hit, it was intense and immediate. I'm trying to process the events to determine if there was something I missed that my body was telling me. I just don't remember anything out of the ordinary.
