I had a sharp pain on my left side up to four weeks out but it wasn't constant.  It was usually if I moved a certain way.  Are you taking your pain medication as ordered.  I took mine twice a day regularly for about three weeks and if you aren't maybe that is why the pain seems to be lingering and more painful.  Sometimes if you can feel the pain, you tend to "baby" that area.  Where when you take pain medication, it is not as painful and therefore the area is not being "babied" so much.  By no means am I saying do what you want but if the pain is not there, you are able to stretch those muscles more than usual, because it doesn't hurt so bad.

I know I was able to reach above my head, twist a little (not too much), and bend a little each day and it will stretch those muscles.  Also a heating pad was my best friend for the first four weeks too.  It makes it feel so much better. I hope you start feeling better soon.
