RNY or DS - How did you decide?
DS wasn't an option for me; surgeon didn't do it and insurance covered sleeve and RNY. Honestly, I am glad it wasn't an option for me prior to surgery. I tend to go with the most extreme of most things and had I been given the choice, I would likely had gone with it. I now like that RYN is somewhat limited in malabsorption where with DS, it is permanent.

Essentially I could have had either as a self pay. I didn't research the DS like I should have )focused on lapband and RNY) as the DS was not being down local to me and still isn't today. I wish I had done more research before choosing based on what I know now.
I don't have any regrets with my choice though.
If the DS is an option for you and with a higher bmi I think you should really focus on the long term stats and choose what surgery you think is best suited for long term success.
