Stool scare- don't open if you cant handle

I'm waiting for my husband to get home from work before I can go to the hospital. I've been dealing with constipation and pains on the left under ribcage for quite some time now (3 years). 

A few minutes ago and once earlier today I have passed a black liquidy stool. Anyone else experience this, and if so did you find a cause? The doctors here on post are clueless with this surgery and if it could potentially be linked I need to be able to tell them something when I go in.  My doctor cannot see me until next week, so I'm going to have to go to the walk in care clinic since I have no other options. Just freaked me out.

Thank you. I was hoping someone would be online and able to give me a little info to pass on to the doctor. My husband just got home so I'm heading out to the hospital. I'll post an update when I get a chance.

Black stool is usually digested blood... go get that checked out ASAP and let us know how it goes...my thoughts and prayers are with you!

thank you, this is what I was thinking. I'm heading out right now. I've had a horrible headaches and today especially. I'm hoping it's not serious. I'll post an update

 It can also be cause by taking Iron.

are you taking any kinds of medicine to help you go to the bathroom .. cuz some can czuse you to have black sstool and if that happens it says to stop with it ?? .. but hope you get everything figured out and besst of luck.

 I agree that black stools are usually an indication of blood.  Maybe it's an ulcer?  I hope they find out what is wrong and I'm praying for you. 

 I was told that black stools that have blood would be more like coffee grounds but liquidy.
