OT - ah, the sound of cat hacks in the morning

What a way to wake up at 5:30 in the morning! No one should be awake this early anyway. But who wants to wake up to the sound of a cat hacking up a hair ball, or a lung? Then you just know you're going to get out of bed and step in it.

I had an indoor cat for 12 years....I don't miss the hairballs. Especially when they were vomitted up on the carpet

My cat begins hacking and she is on vinyl flooring or some other similar surface, and then she walks over to the rug and finishes the deed. Its bad enough that it happens, but why, why, why does she have to do it on my rug? Whenever she hacks up a hairball, I get out the "kitty lax" and she gets a healthy dose.

Ha ha ha @ the cat moving from a mopable surface and deliberately tossing it up on the carpet. Go figure. Heck my cat used to sleep at the foot of my bed, and has even tossed it up there.

Yep, yep - got home from taking my BF to work this morning to bird body parts all over my doorstep. You could tell the cat ate the bird, then promptly threw it back up - totally disgusting! Cats are lucky they're so cute - lol!

BAH HA HA!! I can soooo relate!!! I have 3 cats, and one of them seems to think this is his "job" in life. At least once a week, and right next to my bed. And then he sits there as I curse and gripe with this smug look on his face saying "Well, are ya still happy you rescued me from that lady's house?"

(Yes, I still am......but some days......... ;)

I'll let you in on a little "trick" I use on my cat. I put a small blob of petroleum jelly on his paw for him to lick off about once to twice a week. Twice in summer because he sheds more then...He hasn't had a hairball for 6 years. Best solution I've ever tried!

I have this hair ball remedy stuff for cats. It's in a tube like toothpaste and I don't know what it tastes like but they all love it. I squirt some on a spoon and they lick it off. One of my cats has really long hair, though, and she grooms herself a lot, and she still gets hairballs occasionally.

The other two just puke sometimes.

I got up this morning and looked all over for whatever they were hacking up last night but I couldn't find it. So either nothing actually came up or there is a hairball somewhere hiding waiting to be stepped on when I least expect it.

Yup. I narrowly missed stepping a prize-winning hairball this morning. I've had one cat who loved the yeast-petroleum jelly stuff, came arunnin' to lick it right off my finger, but others who wouldn't even lick it off their paws.

Current cat usually does it on the linoleum right next to the carpet. Previous cat, may she rest in peace and comfort, did a lot of recreational barfing. It was hard on our relationship.

I have a kitty who loves to "nurse" on my earlobe at all hours of the night.....he wakes me up at least 3 times a night to have some lobe. He is so damn cute I have a hard time saying no......I am such a sucker.
