Oh gracious --it's a cold, rainy perfectly ugly day and now this thread has me thinking of my gramma who made THE BEST  raised doughnuts in the WHOLE world !! She would make dozens and dozens of them at a time and we would eat the right out of the fryer or rolled in powdered sugar and sometimes we would even wait long enough for her to glaze them !! Ok, have to leave this thread--I'm drooling on my keyboard !!  I'm sure I will  now have to fight the image of hot doughnuts for the rest of the day.

RNY on 04/18/12
I freaking loved donuts for years...  My ex and I used to get donuts about once a month.  He was a super sweet tooth and could eat 3 or 4 at a time.  He was also skinny.

Over the past couple of years, not so much.  I think I had donuts once last year, and it was only because I wanted to pick up something quick.  I don't think I'd like them if I tried them, or maybe I would (!), so I think I will just avoid them like the plague.

Me and donuts go way back. Being a night nurse you would get off work and go to the store and they would be bringing them out hot.
My son and I would go on donut pilgrimages.

I can tell you that Rny cured me of my donut addiction. I have had 1/2 of a donut post op and was so sick. I can just pass them by. It's a medical miracle.
