for those that like Chipotle

I think Chipotle is a great place for us to eat post WLS.  A burrito bowl without rice (or with just a little brown rice, which is what I order), beans, onions and peppers, chicken or steak, cheese and salsa is delicious and healthy.  And it's affordable, so I eat there fairly often.

An organization that advocates for the rights of farmworkers has asked Chipotle to sign a "Fair Food Agreement," which ensures that their tomatoes comes from farms where they farmworkers receive certain protections.  Farmworkers are often underpaid and often work in dangerous conditions. Several other fast food places have signed the agreement, including Burger King and Subway, but Chipotle does not want to sign.

For those that are interested in learning more or signing a petition asking Chipotle to get on board and protect the workers harvesting their tomatoes, you can visit this website: ciw-online.org/

that surprises me that they are all about "food integrity" and trying to use locally sourced produce and "natural" meats

I guess the question is, are they really about food integrity or are they about marketing themselves to customers that care about food integrity, which are not necessarily the same things?  I know they say they use some local produce when in season, but do you know how much of what they use is actually local?

If they say they use "some" local produce, that could mean 50% of their veggies are local or it could mean 5% are local.  If it's 5%, that would suggest to me that they don't try very hard, but they want to be able to tell customers they use some local produce.

Now I think I'm gonna contact my local Chipotle and ask them how much of their produce is actually local.

...it sounds like it may be using Whole Foods as a model...marketing themselves to customers that hold what is widely accepted as food integrity as a value...I'm guessing that Chipotle' uses a definition that allows it to market as it does...but that may be different than that which is widely held as the definition...
