I did opt for the Mirena IUD since I won't have to remember to take it and it's supposed to help with the heavy bleeding.
I would think you'd want to see someone who specializes in OBGYN surgeries, right?
We have 4 kids already we flew past our original goal of 2 HAHA. But at 4 we are done college isn't getting any cheaper! Hubby is scared to get his snipped I gave birth 4x buddy get it done but if he won't I have to get my tubes tied I am scared of getting pregnant after surgery.

But seriously, hubby should get snipped. It is a much simpler, less risky, less painful, less expensive procedure. And it is not that painful.
My partner got snipped several years ago and it was done in the doctor's office. Might have taken half an hour altogether. I talked the doctor into letting me watch the procedure and I thought it was really cool. He got local anesthesia, like novacaine. One side didn't hurt much but when they snipped the other side, the doc had to kind of dig around in there to find the little tube, and apparently that was painful. My partner started laughing a little, this really weird laugh, which apparently meant it hurt. But only for a few minutes.
Afterward, he was somewhat sore. He put an ice pack between his legs off and on for a couple days. After a couple days, he felt totally normal.
And he is a big baby too. He occasionally gets these long hair growing on his ear. I offer to pluck them for him. He squeals and says no way, like plucking one hair is the most painful thing ever. But he did not think getting snipped was that bad.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.

I would be leery of any surgeon willing to do this. You should have a bariatric surgeon do your RNY and an OB-GYN do your tubaligation.
Good luck

Since your surgeon doesn't seem to have a specialty (you said he's a general surgeon, right?) he could, in theory, do two separate surgeries while you were under, I suppose, but that would depend on length of time needed, whether it's worth the additional risk, and whether your insurance will cover it.
I suppose it's worth it to ask if you really want it done, but a vasectomy is so much easier. If I hadn't had to be cut open anyway when I gave birth, my husband was going to have one. A bag of frozen peas is all it takes to recover from that, as opposed to an additional major surgery for you.
