Stricture?

Hi all,  I am going in tomorrow for a test to see if I have a stricture. I am really struggling to ge****er down, let alone food.  I had surgery 4/30, but had two other surgeries(all within less then a week) due to complications. So I am really behind on my "eating schedule". I still have a feed tube (which the doc says is my life saver right now). I am on soft foods...so far mashed potatoes, pudding, pureed chili, and soup doesn't stay down. Water is such a struggle also.  Any suggestions for me? I am so scared of having another bowel blockage (2 was more then enough) that I think I am just freaking myself out. HELP!  I soooo want to be able to eat so I can get rid of this food tube. Thanks!!

Typically, a doc will dialate a stricture during the same endoscopy procedure that they do to see if you have one or not..  It's not a big deal, and if that's what you have, it's really easily taken care of.

Good Luck!

Doc told me to keep trying different things. I have the test tomorrow and the endoscope is scheduled for the 26th. He plans on doing the endoscope regardless of what the test shows because he said whatever is going on is just not normal. I get sooo thirsty and just can't get enough fluid. Just frustrating, BUT I know things will get better....all in time. RIGHT!?!?

I had to have six stricture dilations so I know how frustrating it can be. Ice chips were my best friends. I would actually go through the drive through of Taco Johns and get a cup of ice because I liked their ice the best lol.

Good luck with your test. The scope is not a big deal at all..you just get a nice little nap.

I am having stricture problems as well. From the sounds of things that is what is wrong with you. My suggestion is like someone else said, ice chips. For some reason I could now keep water down but I could the ice. I cennot believe your doc is making you wait that long to get the endoscope. It should be getting done asap as it will help so much! If your doc does not wise up I would maybe search around for another bariatric surgeon to take over for you. Best of luck dear and I hope you are better soon.
