I realized that myself this week as well. I've become too complacent setting the treadmill at my standard speed and regular intervals. I kicked it way up a notch or two today and I feel great because of it.
I have that whole "I can never..." mentality when it comes to certain things... well, I figured try - and if I can't then I scale it back a notch and try again. I surprised myself.

Paul, that is one of my goals to try after I lose my extra body :) I have never been normal weight, but always wanted to be a runner. I can't wait to actually make that a reality soon. I will have surgery in September- so by spring, I should be starting a program. You are an inspiration!!

I substituted "walking" for "running" and it made perfect sense.
I don't want to run--good thing, too, since my knees have basically turned to chalk dust--but I do want some of those day-glo shoes the runners wore in the Olympic Trials (held right here in my home town). Shoes don't have to be the same color! I love those shoes. Probably they're mad expensive, and engineered for skinny running, not fat walking. Sooo pretty, tho...
Before I stop rambling, I'll say that I'd like a complete set of runner muscles as well.
