update on Cayenne for today

I went to see her at the vet's a little while ago.  She is feeling better.  She was not so interested in being held and wanted to get down and walk around, which wasn't really possible since she's still hooked up to an IV.  But she had her head up and was looking around and her eyes looked a lot brighter.  She still has not eaten on her own, but they fed her with a syringe this morning and she ate everything they squirted into her mouth.  Her blood sugar got really high this morning so they increased her insulin.  She will be spending yet another night at the vet's, though.

I don't even wanna think about what this is gonna cost.  Her recent surgery was over $500, then when I brought her home on Thursday I paid $360, and now she's spending at least two more nights there.

I am glad she is getting better.  The fact they fed her with a syringe is good.  I have one Kittie I had to feed her like that for weeks and that is what saved her.  Baby food, and pedialite per the vet.  I took a dish towel folded it in half and cut out a hole in the middle and made a little poncho to keep the food and water off her coat. wasn't always easy but I learned to put down a rubber backing bathmat on the table so I could stand and lean over her as to cuddle and hold her in place to feed her.  That's when it's just you. Once husband got home then it was easier.  I know about the cost, but I also know you will do whatever it takes to get Cayenne well.  Also the fact the she wanted to get down is a great sign. She wants the hell out of there.  Thank goodness for IV's.  Ok, this does my heart good to know how she is doing.  Keep posting updates.  Thanks, Jane

I could just tell what she was thinking.  She saw where the door was and I just knew she was thinking "Come on!  Let me down and I know I can get out of this place!  Let's go!"

I'm glad she's doing better. Sorry about the cash. I know that hurts in its own way. But as I discovered when one of our cats was sick and didn't go to the vet, you can't put a price on the love these furry critters give us, even if it makes things tight.

I hope she returns to full health quickly for your and her sake.

Oh, I'll pay it.  But it certainly does make things tight.

I hope she is all better very soon! Sounds like she may be turning a corner.

It can be expensive but they are like our kids (I don't have a cat, I have a yorkie named Sam).  You gotta do what you gotta do!

Thank you for these updates. I'm an animal person, and I've been praying for little Cayenne. So glad to hear she's doing better!

If she wants to get down and she's keeping food down it sounds like she's on the mend. A little more time and she'll be ok.  Glad for both of you!
