Pictures From a Year Ago and Today

This isn't your usual before and after.
The first picture was taken last June and the second picture was taken today.  I weighed about 10 lbs more then but basically I have weighed the same for over a year.  That to me is more important then losing weight.  I can't remember if I have ever weighed the same from one year to the next.  I have lost weight hundred of times, although at the end it was getting harder and just about impossible to lose any more.  But I never had any success at keeping weight off for any lenghth of time.  This is the first Summer I can remember wearing clothes from the previous summer.  It may not be a long time but it's a big deal for me.

Maintenance baby!  Way to go.  Did you find it hard over the year to maintain?

Not terribly as long as I stay pretty consistent with my eating.  I avoid all sugar and gluten and I don't have much in the way of cravings and my pouch gets me full pretty quick so I am satisfied with a lot less food then I used to be.  And I rarely experience physical hunger.  Now head hunger, that's another story.  If I get busy I may forget to eat but if I am bored I will plan out my next meal and what I should eat and all that.  Even though I'm not hungry I don't miss a meal unless I am very distracted.  It also helps to plan ahead and to be prepared so I have things I can eat with me if I get caught away from home too long.

What's amazing to me is that you look like the kind of person who -- as a fat person -- I envied for "natural thinness" and who couldn't relate to the struggle to keep weight off. But of course you CAN relate.

I think a few times I've been humbled after looking at a person who looks naturally slender like you to find out that they, too, had WLS.

You look awesome! (naturally slender... I'm envious)

Ironically, a person I never met before said to me "You've lost a lot of weight, haven't you?".  I couldn't believe it.  I asked her how she could tell and she said she just could.  Really made me feel strange, like I had a sign on me or something.  She asked how I did it and I told her and she said "I'd never do that" (she was very heavy, too.).  I just told her it was a lot of work and if she could do it any other way that was the way to go.

I know exactly what you are talking about.  every year it seemed that I would have to go to a bigger size, so to maintain for a year and wear last year's summer clothes is the best testament yet!   Jane

What an amazing accomplishment! Ive maintained my weight loss for two tears today. It's an incredible feeling! You look fantastic!
As for the lady who said she could tell you lost a large amount of weight, often times, I can tell too. It's something with the way our faces look. Not bad or ugly, just something. I can't really explain it! Don't let it weird you out.
Congrats on a year maintained! It's such a big deal and sometimes people who haven't struggled with weight just don't get it.
