I had gallbladder surgery

I went in at 10am and surgery was scheduled at noon. But they were running behind because the guy before me had a lot of scar tissue during his WLS. I ended up going in at 2 pm. I woke up around 315 and left at 430. I had apple juice and a rice crispy treat well I was there. I have 3 marks, the one is a lot higher then I thought it would be. It's right under my boobs. I have no pain really, which is great. And most of my gas is gone now. I gain 10 pounds from the Iv. I had to check lol. I'm just not hungry and water taste bitter. I hope everyone who had surgery this day is doing great. :)
Even 11 1/2 years later I'm envious of people with simple GB surgeries.
Mine was emergency surgery, admitted at 2 am, surgery at 10 am (had to wait until my stomach was clear of any food) and my GB was fixin to explode (said my surgeon in Atlanta, his words exactly). Then I had complications, I came out of anaesthesia and I was in agony and the recovery nurse was telling me to shut up (meanie!). Another procedure and three nights in the hospital before I could come home. Returned to work 8 days after surgery because I didn't have any more leave, couldn't afford not to return. Then hubby (who was my boyfriend at the time) took advantage of my weakened state and proposed. (we just celebrated our 11th anniversary!)
Most people have such an easy time of it. *sigh*
Glad to hear yours went well. 99.9% do go great. I guess it's when your GB is fixin to explode and all infected that it doesn't go so hot.

I'm sorry yours went so tough. But I bet you are so much happier now. I know my friend had an emergency one, 3 days before her wedding. Which is is leaving the guy (left the guy) waiting for the divorce. I am glad my went well. That was sooo sweet of him doing that, I would have cried when he proposed like that. I don't know why, but my doc told my mom I need to watch my weight? I have lost 5 pounds since the 28th.

I had gallbladder surgery 6/18. I had a much better post-op with this than my RNY. I had 4 small incisions. My surgery was at noon and went home at 830pm. I was on O2 and it took me a while to wake up to drink fluids. I only got one dose of anti-nausea med. I also was dehydrated (only received 750ml/25oz) IV fluids. I drank fluids the next day with a soft supper and my dry mouth was gone by the evening. Since my pain med was Vicodin (causes me severe constipation) I had already increased my Miralax/colace doses and held my calcium and iron meds for a few days to counteract. I weaned off the Vicodin in 4 days. The only complication I had was an allergic reaction to the dermabond/liquid stitches (redness, swelling and blisters) I will be going back to work next week. MD wanted my incisions to be completely healed since I do have to move heavy medical equipment at work.
