So sorry about your vacation! I was looking forward to meeting you in person. Maybe your sister will want to come again next year.

I'm sure she'll want to next year, but I'm not sure it will be possible.  It was only happening now because she got some unexpected money from her ex that normally does not pay child support.  But we'll see.

It's perfectly ok.  Vacations come and go as you said, our fur babies do not.  She has been a very sick kitty with her surgery and all.  I would be doing the same thing as you and I support people who love their animals enough to do exactly what you are doing.  My vet told my husband our one cat who has heart disease and is a diabetic is only alive because we have taken such good care of him. So stay home, love on her and take care of her and you will be there for anything she needs. Jane

I'm sorry!!! :(   Maybe there will be another one in the near future...

I know what you mean, when my kitty Jordan was sick .. I did not go anywhere, did not visit my parents that lived 1.5 hours away for 6 months because I was spending all my spare time (when not working) at home with my kitty before he passed on.  I'm glad I spent alot of time with him.

Pets are our family!!!! :) Glad Cayenne's better!!! :)

She's been eating small amounts every couple hours tonight.  I have to coax her out from under the bed with treats, but she comes when she hears me shake the bag of treats and she'll follow me to the kitchen.  She's not eating anywhere near her normal amount but I figure that's normal since she hasn't been eating at all for several days.  She isn't interested in water and I'm sure she's well hydrated right now from being on IV fluids for three days but I don't want her to get dehydrated again.  I gave her some milk and she did drink that.  I think I'm going to try offering her some chicken broth in a little bit and see if she'll drink some of that.  She is also eating moist food, like baby food meat.

I am really sorry that you will miss the vacation.  All-expense-paid vacations certainly don't come along very often!  I am sure, though, that if you went you would not have enjoyed yourself worrying about your kitty.  Sometimes the most frustrating things in life can just be the bad timing of things.

You're right, I would have been worried about her the whole time.  And I can only imagine how awful I would have felt if she started getting sicker again while I was gone and I couldn't be with her.

I 100% respect you for your decision : )

I know that doesn't help to know that but I would do the exact same thing -- that's your baby!

Be happy.

It helps a little.  And she is much more important to me than any vacation.
