Do you live to eat or eat to live???
the major difference for me is that i dont look forward to meals anymore.. i dont yearn for them like i used to.. and to be honest, that makes me glad.. Now i just eat because i have to.. i mean, i make it a note to enjoy what im eating, and try different things.. but i dont planaround steak nights, and base things around food, resturants, etc..
I do a bit of both and don't think it's necessary to do one or the other frankly.
I have foods I definitely look forward to eating. Some days in my life still revolve around food and always will (Thanksgiving for instance. I am not ashamed to say that day is ALL about dinner).
What's changed is the fact that I acknowledge when I am being food-centric and I play with the other variables in my life (activity, other meals) so that it doesn't result in massive gains.
But that whole "live to eat/eat to live" dichotomy is a false one.
None of us simply eat to live. By virtue of the fact that we have food preferences this is true. We don't eat things we categorically hate simply because they are what is best for us. We choose the best of what we LIKE to eat and eat it.
The human body was designed to "live to eat." From the cavemen to people today. But it was also designed to move. So that's what I do. I eat. I move. I am healthy. That's it.

I agree with other posters that it's not a choice of 100% all or the other, at least for me. Probably the best thing I'm learning in this journey is the concept of balance. So now eating to live has it's place - honoring both my hunger AND satiety - but I still obtain pleasure in food choices and don't beat myself up on ocassional indulgences!
