Throwing up is such a different experience now... (graphic)

I agree with you! About a year post op the stomach flu went around and my family got it. It was the worst. I've never been sick like that in my life. I wanted to throw up, but since there was nothing in my stomach, I couldn't! Not even the normal stomach acid or whatever. It was like I wanted to puke, but there was no power behind it. Does that make sense?
Sheer misery for 24 hours. So now, I'm very careful. I'm constantly telling the kids wo wash their hands when they come in from school, and if I suspect someone is sick, I outta there!

All I can say is that now I know how my cat feels when he has a hairball. It is definitely a different experience post-op.

You know, I'm actually glad you posted this. I was wondering about others after hearing about how lots of people just quickly throw up things that didn't agree or got stuck.  I've never been able to do that.  I've gotten that icky watery feeling--lots of saliva production, then dry heaves.  Nothing ever comes up.  It's horrible.  I guess it's better than little bits over and over again...but not much.

Just dry heaves for me too.  It's awful.  I've been through a bad stomach bug and a pregnancy with horrible morning sickness, and I could never get anything to come up.  Dry heaving is the worst.
