Condoms a definite for me.  Not for pregnancy prevention but STD's.
I had a tubal ligation 3 months after my 21st birthday!
Maybe your OB-GYN can recommend something for you.

And BTW.......enjoy dating and having fun!!!!!

Really, you were sure that young that you never wanted children?  I don't mean to sound judgmental, I think it's totally a woman's choice.  I'm just surprised because most people at that age have no idea what they want later on in life.

Condoms are a definite for me, too.

Have you considered an IUD, like Mirena?

Yeah.  Am I correct that some IUD's contain hormones and some don't?  I definitely don't want hormones.  But a tubal ligation might be easier.  Just get it over with once and for all.

You are correct. Hormonal IUDs are good for 5 years (Mirena) and copper IUDs are good for 10 (Paraguard)

I had the Depo Shot and yes I bled for 3 months. I was pulling my hair out. I felt it prevented pregnancy by making it so you couldn't enjoy sex!!

Anyways, I talk to my best friend a lot and she is putting her 18 year old on birth control pills after talking to the Dr. as her daughter has depression as well and the Dr has given her lots of advise on what forms of pills help with the mood swings of depression.

I would opt for making the man sign a agreement to go have a vasectomy with the next 2 months!! LOL Sort of like a PreNup.. Just call it a PreSex!!!

But on a serious note I understand why you would want a Tubal ligation at this point in your life. If your insurance will cover it. Mine wouldn't go figure ---- they rather pay thousands and thousands of dollars for me to have multiple C-Sections over birth control.

The bottom line is you have to do what is right for YOU!!! IF that is how you feel then you should do what you decide and not let a DR tell you differently.

I'm pretty sure my insurance will cover it but I guess I ought to check and make sure!  I like the pre-sex agreement, though.

My health insurance paid for my tubal (BCBS of AZ) but some insurances are walking back all kinds of benefits for women.

Check into essure, you don't have to have surgery and it is just as effective as a surgical tubal ligation. I personally have an IUD and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it Good luck to you.

i guess i missed something while i was away! hope you're doing okay.

i had the nuvaring, but my insurance apparently only covers up to $800 in prescription meds in a plan year ( late august-august since it's a student plan), so i can't get my non-generic meds for another month. it's easier than the pills since i don't have to worry about malabsorbing, but i guess if you don't want anything with hormones it's a moot point.
