birth control question?

Just wondering if they still make diaphragms? Since you are maintaining your weight, you wouldn't need to worry about accidental pregnancy because of change in size/shape/fit. It is non-hormonal and could be used in conjunction with condoms and spermacide. No need to risk pregnancy OR disease! Could be used short term until surgery can be arranged.

I was thinking about that.  I think that might be a good idea, at least for a while.  I'm not sure I would want to rely only on a diaphragm, but with that and condoms, that should be effective!

When I first lost weight and entered the dating world again, I was not sure if I wanted more kids so I got the depo shots. The hormones made me completely crazy. I was so thankful when I found out my boyfriend is fixed.

I've had several friends who have had the essure

Well, as they say, first impressions are very important. Say you go on a date and do not like a guy, best way to ensure not having to see him again: ask him to have a vasectomy! Would work perfect! On another note, I do not handle hormonal birth control very well either. When I was 16 I was put on birth control to try to help with regulation and well prevention :P. They ended up changing the pill I was on to Yazmin (the one with a huge lawsuit against it). Yazmin caused me to bleed terribly for 2-3 weeks at a time and then only have at the most a week off. It completely messed up my cycles for the rest of my life. Also caused some other problems. Ever since if I am on birth control with hormones I bleed far too often. After my daughter was born I did a lot of research and found Paraguard. It is a copper IUD that is good for up to 10 years. I do want another child someday just not today. I love the Paraguard! I never have to worry about taking a pill or changing a patch or anything on time. My bleeding is minimal and my periods are actually kind of regular! It is a godsend for me! It did hurt being insurted and I was slightly crampy for about a week. Other than that I have had NO problems with it at all. But if you are 100% sure you do not want kids I would just suggest getting it over with and getting the tubal.

Good point!  That would prevent an annoying guy from pursuing me, huh?

Well, a sure fired way to prevent pregnancy and still have sex is to only date women!

However, if that's not an option, I think it sounds like you're at a point in your life where a tubal would be viable if your insurance covers it. I have the Mirena IUD and I hate it. It was supposed to reduce my periods but I do nothing but bleed all the time which is less conducive to sex than asking a man to get snipped would be, lol! The pill and Depo made me bat **** crazy. Mirena doesn't seem to be doing that, but I did have to up my antidepressant dosage so that's probably holding the BSC in check.

Good luck, and good for you for thinking about this BEFORE you get into a situation where sex is on the table.

Oh, I am considering dating only women, believe me!

OK, seriously, before my recent partner and got together, I identified myself as a lesbian and had dated only women for many, many years.  Emotionally, I still feel I relate better to women.  I'm not at all sure I will date men again.  Blah, at this moment I am not sure I want to ever date anyone again, but you know how that goes.
