I'm almost 4 months out and still can't drink plain water at any temperature. According to my surgeon's office it is a very common problem

Vary your water temps, as that's an issue for some post ops. You may have loved water with ice cubes prior to surgery, but not tolerated it well.  I know some post op women who claim they can only drink water if diluted fruit juice or lemon juice is added.  Crystal Lite or other flavorings may help too. I found a good flavored green tea that comes in single packets. Each packet has the same benefits as 45 cups of regular green tea, 10 cal., 20mg caffeine.  If you're able to swallow semi solid foods, it doesn't sound like a stricture.  I know a few whoh had strictures in my support groups, and they couldn't ge****er, soft foods, anything down without it "coming back up" within a few seconds.  And yes you'll end up in the hosptial if you fail to stay hydrated. Watch the color of your urine.  Darker urine right after you get up or shortly after a B complex is understandable. BUT, if you have darker urine all day long into the evening, it's a sign you're not getting enough water.  DAVE

I am 8 months out and I can't drink plain water either.  I was glad to read this becuase whenever I try to tell people that drinking water hurts they look at me like I'm nuts. I have tried every temperature and it makes no difference.  I have tried just about every type of flavoring, there are so many, hopefully you find one you like.  I have started drinkin the no cal flavored sparkling waters from Walmart.  I have to let them go flat first but I like them ok.

Hubby still thinks it's more mental than physical. But from time to time I fill an 8oz glass with water instead of my usual 3 ounce cup, and if I'm not paying attention, I might forget and drink the water. Then a minute or two later, I feel so nauseous and I'm always puzzled, "Why do I feel so awful all of a sudden?" and then I realize what I've done.

If there's a Zombie Apocalypse, I'm going to raid the crystal light section of the super market so I won't run out of stuff to add to my water. I'll also take off towards a citrus-laden part of the country, so I could squeeze orange, or lime, or grapefruit, or any other citrus into my water. Then, when I get the water stuff taken care of, then I'll worry about the whole zombie issue.

Same thing with me. I am still having problems getting all of my fluids in. Today was my second visit to the doc for IV Fluids. Plain water at ANY temp hurts. Now vitamin water zero has been a blessing and liptons diet ice tea.
