MIne was July 12. I feel great no problems pain wise.Dont even feel like i had surgery at all. The issue I have is my fluids I am having trouble getting all in. I always feel full I try to sip all day but That has proven hard for me. I have not had any issues eating, except for the fact I am not hungry. If I do eat a "meal" then it makes it even harder to drink. Spoke to my nurse at the support group she said I could try 5 small meals instead of 3. I did not really make a differfence.
So I just try to drink more its all I can do.
I go back to work next thursday.

Hi, I had my surgery July 19, I feel great! I can get all my fluids in and I am getting in my protein..I use a few little tricks like when I was on the Atkins diet--I make what I call a "plate pizza" I melt  1 oz ricotta and 3 oz mozzarella cheese on a small plate, this gives me 28 grams of protein and calcium too!(Now I eat half of this for lunch and work on the rest throughout the afternoon) I melt in our toaster over so I smell it as it cooks. I get up around 6 am and have 10 oz water to start my day, I sip sip sip until my cup of tea is ready. This helps me psychologically as after I have my cup of decaf tea I begin to make my breakfast. Now I am only 2 weeks postop so I am still on soft and moist, so I have a scrambled egg with some ricotta and mozzarella added...I use low moisture skim so little fat on the cheese. Now  find I can freeze my favorite water (crystal light ) and I use this as an afternoon treat. I freeze 16 oz and I take this outside as I walk around the yard it softens up so I can crunch and eat it...adds some variety! I like the fruit punch flavor by wylers. I can't tolerat the protein drinks, they make me soo sick so I had to find alternatives as my surgeon wanted me up to 60 grams of protein before I see him this Thursday. My clothes are fitting looser, I lost 14.8 lbs as of one week postop so I will be excited to see it this week, I do not have a scale in the house as I decided  will go by how my clothes fit. I am more than a number and firmly believe that! I take a flinstones complete 2x a day. Good luck and keep us posted with how you are doing. I also made a batch of turkey meatballs, so soft and moist and I can eat them hot or cold, easy 7 grams per meatball! Hope this helps! Have a great day!!  =)

Hello, while I didn't have my surgery this July, I did have it on July 29th, 2010. Just wanted to stop by and let you all know that things will work out great, and that in a year you will look back at all of this and be amazed as to how much you have accomplished.

I met my weight goal a few months before my year anniversary, and then went on to lose some more weight a few months past the first year aniversary. Goal Weight was 145., my weight ended up stabilizing at 125-130. After keeping that weight range for 9 months, I am now expecting a baby, and very, very happy, as infertility was one of the reasons I chose to have this surgery.

I wish you all a great journey, and feel free to send me a private note if you have questions or need to vent. I know this is not a peace of cake, but the rewards are so amazing, it is worth every day!

Congratulations for making it this far!

I had surgery July 23rd. It has been very rough for me...lots of nausea, vomiting, weakness and fatigue. I have not even come close to my fluids or protein yet.  I had my one week appt on Tues and had lost 17 lbs in 8 days! I go back this afternoon for him to make sure I'm staying hydrated and that I don't need to go back in the hospital.  I am so ready to start feeling better...at least as good as I felt before surgery! I'm glad others are doing so well. Good luck all!

I had surgery on July 24. I have lost about 13 lbs since surgery with my pre-op diet. I had an awful time after surgery with protein. I posted on my blog about it. I could not tolerate any kind of whey protein at all. Liquid or powder would send me vomiting almost as soon as it hit my stomach. I tried soy and it sent me to the bathroom for long periods after. My surgeon and I tried a million things and we come to the conclusion that I developed a sensitivity to the protein post op. I was pretty bummed as its hard to get all my protein in now.

He switched me to pureed so I could start getting in some kind of protein. I have been trying super hard to get it all in. I have to force myself to eat as I have no hunger at all. I try to eat every few hours something high in protein. I am getting in about 40 -50 grams a day. It's hard with out the supplement and not being able to have some of the higher protein foods.
Although, everything I have tried to eat has stayed down just fine. I can eat somewhere around 2 oz/ 1/4 cup of food before I feel full...and yes.. I actually feel full when I eat.

I have not hungry feeling most of the time but when I eat...I feel full!  I thought that was odd since so many people were saying I wouldn't feel anything.

I struggle a lot with water, I can't drink anything ice cold or plain water. So, I dilute my water with a small amount of juice and sip it at room temp. I would love a big ol glass of ice water right now though! I also munch on ice chips now and then, they don't seem to bother me too much, maybe cause it's so small.

I am only taking some of my vitamins right now but the ones he has me taking seem to stay down okay. It has been an adventure so far for sure!

I had my surgery on July 11th.  I had my surgery for medical reasons and not for weight loss.  I was 150lbs the morning of surgery.  Needless to say I have lost weight anyway.  Its kind of impossible to not lose weight when you have a gastric bypass.  At my one week followup I lost 7lbs, but I have not weighed in since.  This was not about weight loss for me, it was about alleviating symptoms from past WLS's.  Everything seems to be fine.  Im starting to feel when I am full now.  A week ago I could down a gladiator smoothie pretty quickly, and now i have to break it up and drink at different times. Im still on mushies, but I snuck some really tender chicken that was in my tortilla soup this morning, and it didnt kill me.  But im not going to test anything out anymore.  I just bought 2 bottles of sytrax nectar, and i tried to drin k some a coupel days ago, and I had a really hard time gettign it down, it just tasted terrible.  Maybe it was the southbeach drink mix i mixed with it.  Oh well.

Thanks,
Jessica K
