Fruit and Vegetetables - 2 years out
Curious.....
I am about two years out and a success story from a weight loss and blood work perspective.
I have remained "protein first" for these many months really don't eat many fruits or vegetables.
Do you?
If so, how much? And, do we get any of the nutritional benefits of same?
I will continue with the protein and vitamins (of course!) but as my pouch can handle more, I just wonder what role fruits and vegetables play for some of you longer term post-ops.
THANK YOU!

fruits and veggies are on my plan and strongly encouraged. my plan focuses on balanced meals. i eat 10-12 servings of veggies and fruits a day. a lot of that is leafy greens in my smoothie. i know i am still early out (only 8 months), but my weight loss has been very steady and because of the veggies and fruits i get in over 40-50 grams of fiber a day and have never had bathroom issues either.
i'm sure we are getting nutritional value from it - not enough to replace vitamins.

lol, i blend about 8 cups of leafy greens every day in my smoothie, so that's 8 right there. plus my plan calls for veggies and/or fruit at every meal snack. so that's what i do. the majority of it is veggies, with a few fruit servings a day. i'm still well under my calorie goal for the day. have to remember a cup of veggies is usually under 30-40 calories, and no way i can eat that much unless it's greens.
eta: plus i'm vegetarian, going on vegan (getting SO close lol)

thank you!
my only hold out is really greek yogurt. it just makes such an easy morning snack. i have made some tofu versions that are roughly equivilant in stats, but i don't always remember to bring them to work once i've made them.

I'm just about 3 years out and am also considered a success. I'm also at a point where I do incorporate fruits and vegies into my program. I also eat complex carbs such as legumes(any kind of beans, really). According to the dietican at my center, my noon and night meals should be roughly 3 oz. of protein, 1/4 cup vegies, and 1/4 cup of fruit or starch. Any snacking is a protein rich food such as yougurt or string cheese. Something like that. I lost most of my weight in 2 years( app. 190 lbs) and 10 lbs in the past year to advoid any bounce back..
I hope this helps.

I am 10 months out and eat veggies and fruit from about 4 months out. I do protein first, veggies second and a carb if i am still hungry. I usually do blueberries in my cottage cheese or greek yogart.
