I started today to use the pain patch and was wondering if anyone else has used it and what your experience was.
I have been reading up on it and that probably was a little mistake I was wondering about weight gain , since I have started as a slow looser , in the last week and a half the weight is falling off and I sure don't want that to stop !!.
It has been nice today , I have only had to take 1/2 Norco twice.
I appreciate any info you may have

I did not know they had approved it for use in the US!  I migth have to discuss this with my doctor for my knee. A friend in the UK has been using it for a few years (3 or 4) for severe arthritis in her back following damage from an accident, and she loves it.  She says it provides much more even, continuous pain relief than taking pills.  She is just a *****ubby, so she would probably be upset if it was making her gain weight, but she has not mentioned it (so I cannot be sure, either way).

I am using it for my knees and hip , it does have some restrictions , like heat , and direct sun , so i was worried. I ended up putting it under my arn at chest height , my bra covers it , so I figure a bathing suit would also.
I will update you on how much I am able to cut down on the Norco and Lortab , so far today my knees are fine but my tail bone is killing me , not from weight loss but from hip ****

Yes, do let us know how it does in the long run and what you find out Lora.  I'll talk to all my Drs at the next appts too.  I'll be on Cloud 9 if I can stop using Tramadol and have no pain.  I'm up now because I forgot to take my med on the last 6 hr interval.  It'll take awhile to kick in so I can sleep.

Did you go home with a pain patch?  I had one that I couldn't have longer than a set number of days and it made me feel better than I've felt in years.  No knee or fibromyaglia pain so I could go to sleep, stay asleep and wake up early refreshed.   I know it wasn't the brand you have now.

GREAT to hear your scale is moving again!

I have been reading and a lot of people are using this patch for Fibro.
I got up about 4 a.m. to use the bathroom and my knee hurt and normally i would take something but didn't and I feel fine now , with no added meds , so overall yesterday with using the patch I used 1/2 norco 3 times all together instead of full norco 6 times in 24 hours PLUS still being in pain....first day and night was a "thumbs up"

I don't use the patch, but I do take the same med in sublingual form.  I started using it several months ago and thus far my weight loss rate has not changed that I can tell.  In fact, if anything,  it may be a little better because with adequate pain relief I am more active.

You shouldn't have any problem with weight gain from those, just be very cautious those things made me randomly drowsy, to the point of almost being a sedative. They helped, but make sure they give you something for breakthrough pain. Those didn't come near to taking care of sudden pain spikes. I was on 20mcg per hour btw. Those ones stayed on the best too.

Mat0174,
I am starting out on 10 and I do have Norco and Lortab . I was using the lortab for quick pain relief , but it doesn't last long and using the norco for a longer lasting but it still only lasted about 3 hours. I noticed a difference after bypass , it took more meds to have the same effect. Doc and Pharmacist says that doesn't happen to everyone but it does happen.
I resisted the patch at first because i thought it ment that the Norco would be gone and i was afraid of being in pain , but doc said no patch and norco if needed...so far so good.
My docs contract was not renewed  so I have NO CLUE what the new doc will want to do, he is a surgeon, so I can only assume he is going to want to do surgery , and I am not ready for that yet, especially when I can do injections and meds.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one trying to delay surgery.  I have had many surgeries, including a meniscus repair, but knee replacement scares the crap out of me.

Lora,
I need double knee and hip replacement "they " say , but the doc they fired said NOOOOO. My nephew is a surgery tech for a group that does surgeries "all day long" he says do it, but he doesn't see the aftermath , sure the surgery goes fine , but there are no guarantees on what happens after, and there still is the matter of pain and infection after surgery , hip surgery scares me , knee not as much , but it is still a surgery!!!!
They won't do meniscus repair on me because I have so much arthritis, at least that is what the first surgeon who just flirted with my 35 y/o daughter said , besides get a brace and come back in 3 months , no meds no injections no nuttin ( he will NOT be my new doc)...go figure
I sure hope you can get some relief !!!
