Bad week on a cruise
So I went on a cruise had a blast but I didn't eat like I should have.... :( Gained two pounds hopefully most of it is jus****er weight and some from drinking too much. I feel like crap because I drank too much ate too much even ate dessert.... Not a good week.... I need to get back on track and make these next few weeks count. I feel really bad about this passed week, kinda like I'm failing myself. I ate way too much :( I guess tomorrow when everything is back to normal and I'm not in vacation mode I will eat right and keep losing weight.
Sorry for the rambling I know this post doesn't say much but I just felt like saying it.

Ok well I did eat too much just kept eating LONG after I knew I should have stopped. The first two nights I threw up after dinner, and the third day after breakfast. After that I figured out how to eat a manageable amount. I think I say I ate way too much because I ate the wrong foods. I had ice cream and frozen yogurt which were not good ideas (made me sick). I also drank alcohol.
I'm not trying to push the blame on someone else but cruise ships really push the food and booze and when I ate food at dinner the waiter would insist on bringing me something else because it looked like I didn't eat much. They also really push three course meals which is just not RNY friendly. If I had the chance to do this over again I would, measure my food just like I do at home, never visit the buffet outside normal meal times, avoid the carbs just like I do at home.
I guess I thought I could eat poorly becasue I was on a ship and sometimes they have a limited menu but that's not an excuse.
I also had alcohol which I know should be avoided.

yes drinking is a no no esp this early out. I didn't drink pre op so that part doesn't bother me.
The food however eek I'm a little scared about. The buffet on norwegian is so good that is the one we are going on and I keep telling myself MUST AVOID PASTA STATION!
Oh well you are back now just get back to basics you know what to do and you'll be right back on track. Live and learn!

Glad you have fun on your cruise. I can't wait to go on another one. The first time there was an excursion that I wanted to do in a small sub that seated the driver and 2 passengers. I exceeded the posted wt limit by 50 pounds. I also want to zip-line.
You should beat yourself up especially this early out but you did it , it's over and move on. However, should you find yourself in situations where you make excuses to overeat again and again then you may want to seek counseling. A good friend of mine has almost regained every pound she lost because she eats to much when she goes to social gatherings and she goes to a lot of social gatherings.
I plan to do the same I did when banded. I find the smallest plate (saucer, bread plate, etc.) and divide it 1/2 meat, 1/3 veggies and 1/3 whole grain. I don't pile on food and I leave a clean circle around the edge of the plate so I don't over fill it. I weigh my food at home on a similar plate so I can visualize serving size when faced with a buffet or social gathering. I also use this size plate when we go to a restaurant and I share food with my spouse.
The food on my plate is all I allow myself eating protein first. Presently, I seldom get past the protein but once in awhile I get a bite of the other two. I drink a glass of water while the rest of the table has appetizers, salad or soup. For me the water seems to wake up my pouch. If I don't do this, my pouch is finicky.
Banded Oct 2008: 290
RNY Feb 2012: 245
Dr's set goal: 170 reached Oct 11, 2012
My goal: 160 reached Dec 1, 2012
Today : 145-150
I am half the person I was in 2008.
Last time I was on a cruise we did not go zip lining because I exceede the weight by 50 pounds I was so happy I was well under the weight limit this time. It was really pretty awesome zip lining.
I would say I am on the ball and eat the right amount 99% of the time, when I go to resturants I take home enough food for about 5 more meals I usually eat it for a day or two then throw the rest out. I think it was something about not taking it with me?
As for the drinking, that's something I'm working on I don't always do the best with avoiding alcohol.

It was vacation forgive yourself and get back on track now that you are home. I know it is hard especialy at the buffet when everyone else is eating tons of yummy food and you can only have a few bites.
I leave for Las Vegas in 3 weeks for my sisters wedding and I am going to be facing the exact same problem:
Lots of alcohol, buffets, dinners out, but I have learned how to manage parties, birthdays, and other special occasions, and my best tip for not depriving myself is to scope out exactly what I want on the buffet, mac n cheese, fried shrimp or whatever it might be and get that on my first trip just a spoonful or two then next I will get a small salad or cooked veggies I don't know why but if I get the salad and veggies first I feel deprived and like I am not getting what I want, I always ttell myself that I can have dessert but only 3 bites of it and for whatever reason in my crazy mind, that helps.
Don't be hard on your self you did not fail just pick back up and move on

Don't beat yourself up... it's vacation! I went on a cruise in April and came back down a pound... then went on one in July and came back 3 pounds heavier!! I ate and I drank (alcohol) and I had a good time... I was worried about the gain and even posted about it and everyone was telling me the same things that you are being told and guess what... they were right... the 3 pounds came right off once I got back into my daily "normal" routine... so don't panic I'm sure you will do the same thing... I am going on another cruise in September and I am going to enjoy myself and not sweat it if I have a little gain when I return... This is life and we need to enjoy it while we have it :)
