today I'm starving

I posted the other day about how I'm starving one day and then not hungry at all the next.  I had two days that I must have gotten well under 1000 calories.  I just wasn't hungry at all.

Today, I'm starving.  I feel like I've been eating since I got up, which was around 7 am.  I've probably had close to 1000 calories already today.  In between meals/snacks, I've been drinking as much as I can, including hot tea, which usually helps me feel less hungry, but it's not really doing the trick today.

Hopefully it all evens out.  If I got 800 calories two days in a row, then theoretically I could eat 2000 calories today and still be all right.

Kinda makes sense thought right?... you don't eat enough for a couple of days...then your body tells you EAT!

You should be fine Kelly.
My daughter's doctors always told me to evaluate her nutrition intake by the week instead of by the day b/c she would have spikes & valleys in her hunger also.

They said it all comes out in the wash over the course of a week.

Kelly - this happens to me too and, oddly, it has been the same two days as yours.. LOL.. and today my stomach is snarling and going on. I just allow myself to eat good things when water and tea isn't getting rid of the hungries. Apparently my body needs fuel. I figured if I am eating healthy stuff then it's ok... now if I have 3 or 4 of these hungry days in a row I will start freaking.... but every now and then I'm OK with it.

It is scary.  I don't mind when I'm just a little hungrier than usual but good grief.  I've been eating all day long.  I think I may have gone 2.5 hours at one point without eating something today.  And I was hungry sooner than that.

I've had a hungry week!  And I have eaten more than I normally do.  My hunger manifests in intense back pain.  I eat when I am hungry and just make good choices, most of the time.

this kind of makes sense to me.  I get really hungry after I have a losing day.  Not always but if I am eating normally and lose a # or 2, the next day I am starving.  I figured it was in my head since I knew I had lost, I could eat but if sure feels real.

Interesting...sometimes I think it's hormonal or maybe it's because you actually feel good and food is appetizing. I wouldn't stress about it though - as long as over the course of time you're balanced (maybe a week at a time), should be fine.

I'm curious what Kelly and JustJunquies mean by scary? Like worried about regain/overeating? Maybe it's a good opportunity to work on the root cause of that fear...? I can imagine when I stop losing or hit goal or get close, I'm sure I'll be freaking out about getting into old patterns. Sheesh!

this post makes me feel better I am a year out and wonder after losing 105 pounds; sometimes I feel like I am eating too much; even sometime suprise at the volume I can eat--protein volume not carb volume. I do consantly evaluate if it is head hunger or not; and if it is not I give myself a positive self talk( as in my body must need it). I know my wieght loss is in the range of normal but I tell myself it is better to lose a little slowly; I am lucky in so many ways:  no hair loss, and with the exception of my upper arms no extremely excessive saggy skin; But I think being able to eat a lot of anything for me is a real slippery slope to prevent me from long term sucess.
