Pacifying mysef with food

Ok so my dr said i gained 4 lbs since the end of july. Because of my ever-so-chronic gallbladder pain, I believe ive been pacifying myself with food (even though thats pretty much what is causing the problem in the first place) just like I did post op. And the fact that I cant excersize just compounds the problem.

After my surgery, I'll be going back to basics. This is a reminder that they fixed my stomach, not my head and when I stop thinking about what Im eating and when...this is what happens.

I'm sorry you are struggling with a small weight hiccup.  The mental aspect really is the more difficult aspect of post-op life for many, if not most, of us.  Can I ask why you are going to go "back to basics" after your surgery rather than right now (since you have already identified the problem)?  I will just throw this out for whatever you think it's worth, but I know that in my own case, and that of both many clients that I have worked with and friends who have struggled with weight issues, putting off taking action ("I'll start my diet on Momday", "I really need to stop eating so many potato chips (or whatever), but it's too hard to not eat them when watching the game so I will stop right after football/baseball/basketball season ends") was the start of ADDITIONAL weight gain.  Because on Monday, or after the sports season was over, there was something else going on and a new excuse.  IMO, we are always better "nipping it in the bud" as soon as we recognize the problem.

While I know that is the right answer Im finding it very difficult to do that because Im still in so much pain. The pain makes it hard for me to care or concentrate on anything. I was not at all surprised to find out that I had a small gain.

im thinking that once my surgery is over my head will be clearer and I'll be more able to concentrate on what Im doing.
