Plastic surgery

I talked to my dr about having plastic surgery. I am 3 years, 5 months out from gastric bypass. Im interested in having my breasts done as well as my abdomen and inner thighs. Everything else i think i can live with. He told me it would cost about $30,000 but he thinks he could get the hospital fee eliminated and i would just have to pay the surgeons fee bringing the amount down to $10,000.

Does this sound about right? Im seriously considering this. Ive lost about 155 lbs and im very happy about my weight loss but all of this extra skin really takes away from that and im not at all happy with my body.

I think that sounds really cheap!!  Amazing they can get the hospital to waive the fees.

He said he could get it waived if i did everything at once as opposed to having it done separatly.

I'll be having gallbladder surgery in about 2 weeks so right now that is my priority but im really considering plastics in time for my 4th year surgiversary in april 2013.

Yes, it is cheaper to have multiple things done at  once, so there is only ONE hospital change instead of two or three, but I have a hard time believing that they are going to not change you for what will end up being one's 4 hours of OR time!

I would also NEVER get all that work done at once (and am surprised that any surgeon would even suggest it)... that is a boatload of healing that your body needs to do and  a boatload of post-op pain.

You need to go to the Plastic Surgery Forum on ObesityHelp.  There you will find all the info can possible ask for.  I had 2 consults for Lower Body Lift and inner thigh lift - $26.000 for those 2 procedures.

How can he get the hospital to waive their charges?!?  In addition to just the basic charge for the operating room and equipment use (and the people who have to clean and prep the OR), there are also the charges for all the surgical supplies they use, the OR and post-op nurses, the drugs they give you.. and I am sure that the anesthesiologist, who iften bills separately from the hospital, will want to be paid!  That just doesn't make any sense to me.

I think sounds cheap too. I would probably do it. Lately I  hearing o a lot of drs somehow doing this with hospitals. Just make sure he is a good reputable surgeon. My sister had her tummy tuck (too early of course) but her stomach is now lopsided and looks no better than without.

You could go to Costa Rica for surgery and have them done separately for about the same price. They are known as a great safe place to have plastics done. My friend is a doctor and he recommended doing that.

Was he going to bill insurance for some of it as "medically necessary"?  That would bring the cost down.  Personally I would rather have it all done at one and get it over with.  The thought of having seperate surgeries and recoveries really doesn't appeal to me.  I would rather have one long recovery then 3 shorter recoveries, but that is just me.
Also, there is a surgeon in Monterey, Mexico named Dr. Sauceda that has very good reviews with post bariatric patients.  I have seen his work and he is terrific and his costs are very low, but probably not as low as what you can get.
