Fage (or Chobani) vs Yoplait, et al

I bought a small counter top yogurt maker and haven't looked back since.  I bought an heirloom culture to use becausing using a store bought yogurt as a starter will have to be refreshed with new starter every 4-6 batches where there heirloom lasts forever.  I thought it would be difficult to make, but it is really not.  Just heat the milk, let cool, add starter and put in the yogurt maker and it tastes amazing.  I make 2 batches every weekend.  I also bought some flavor oils to add to the yogurt which are awesome.  You don't even have to have a yogurt maker to make yogurt though.  You can make it in a crockpot or even in the oven.  You just have to maintain 110 degrees while it cultures.

Agreed all the way.

Sweet love is fage 2 percent and last week I finally found the full fat stuff. I make either the 2 or full fat work into my numbers bc the difference is unreal.

Be happy.

I LOVE full fat yogurt too. Yummy.

I used to have the skim, but surprisingly getting a little bit more fat and less carbohydrates into my diet was what boosted my weight loss. Too little fat in your diet can make it difficult for the body to absorb certain nutrients, so it's good to work some (obviously not tons) into your diet.

I bought the EuroCuisine. I actually bought two of them so I could do two batches at once. It was cheaper than buying the doubling rack and extra jars. Sometimes I use the jars, other times I just use a glass Pyrex bowl in it.

Thanks for mentioning this! I  heard about the Yoplait debacle too. Yikes. I make my own Greek yogurt using a recipe on the web. It involves bringing milk to 180 degrees, letting it cool to 105, adding in 2 tablespoons of reserved Greek yogurt with 2 T milk, and covering it and leaving it in the oven with the oven light on overnight. Next morning it takes little effort to strain out the whey to make the yogurt thick. It's cheaper than buying Greek yogurt and the best part is I know what's in it. I love it. Poet Kelly got me doing this when she mentioned she makes her own. I figure I save $20 or more a month by making it myself.

I don't like Yoplait and really don't care for Chobani BUT give me Fage and I can eat it every.single.day MULTIPLE times a day.  Biggest problem is Kroger doesn't keep enough stocked in our local store.  I'm going to check with them over the weekend about ordering me a case at a time.

Okay, so I've tried Chobani and Oikos and didn't like either.  Is it worth trying Fage?  I am so discouraged on greek yogurt because the first two didn't taste good to me.  Help!

My fave is Fage 2%.  The 2% is less sour than 0%.  You still have to sweeten it though.  Sweetened 2% Fage is like.. sweet cream.  Creamy smooth and the fat in it adds to the flavor.
