I am a freaking idiot!

Seriously man I am getting nervous already! Why you ask?  Se that freaking little ticker at the bottom that says Augusta Half Ironman is less than a month away?

Life has thrown me so many curve balls the past couple months that my training has totally lacked.  Last week I was totally down because of a strained quadriceps in my right leg doctor even put me on crutches for a few days to totally give the muscle a rest.

I remember how nervous I was in February when I registered for this race.  I have done a number of smaller races since then and have done decent in them, except for the swim in this last race.  My mind is totally playing games with me and when I look in the mirror all  I see is the old fat me laughing back.

I need to do this I need to do more than survive it but fini**** strong. I need to get my head on straight!

If you try and have to be taken back to the start line in a sag wagon you are still a winner!

If you try and just barely survive and Finnish in last place you are still a winner!

If you come in first place, you are the only one who will remember it a year down the line, the much more important thing is that you are doing things you only dreamed of doing when you were obese.

Decide on a reasonable definition of "finishing strong".  Get ticketed off at the Fat Guy laughing at you, and kick his butt to the curb.  You know in Guy, World getting angry sometimes equals determination and victory.

That fat man is gone.  He has been replaced by a strong, healthy, determined man who can do anything he sets his mind to do.  The injury might be a bit of a hindrance, but I have no doubt that you will be able to "fini**** strong".  Don't listen to the fat man in the mirror.  He's a ghost.

 We love you anyway.
I know you can do it. And when you stop for a minute and think - you will know you can do it. Will it be easy ? No way.... but I know you can do it.
