OT - good news about my service dog!
I just got an email from the service dog program director. She has received all my paperwork and I have been approved for a dog. And the dog I will be getting is a yellow lab named Isaac. I may change his name but I kind of like Isaac. It is a Hebrew name and means laughter.
I'm not sure exactly how old he is, but she said he is young. I'm guessing 12 to 18 months, probably. I emailed her back to ask some questions, including exactly how old he is.
She said he should be ready to be placed in a few months, so I am thinking by the end of the year. What an awesome Christmas present that will be!
She will be going out of town soon for a couple weeks and after she gets back in town, she will be coming to do a home visit (means I gotta clean my house!). I'm not sure exactly when I will get to meet Isaac, but if she thinks he will be ready for placement in a few months, that means I should be starting the part of the training that involved me working with him sometimes before too long.
I'm so excited! I'm still working on fundraising for my service dog. I've raised $1150 so far and have $4850 to go.
