Ummm.. Guess who is a TRIATHLETE????
That would be.... ME!!!
Finished my first Triathlon (sprint distance - 300yd swim in the Gulf, 10mile bike, 2 mile walk/run) this morning. I am still stoked.
My sister went with me, 2 friends showed up (despite it being an hour drive with a 7am start)... I felt like Carmelita Jeter (one of my fave Olympians :) ). I didn't actually RACE like Carmelita... but I felt like her. I was so close to being last place for my division that I was very grateful for a "politically correct" race where they have volunteer losers! LOL (seriously - guaranteed no paid racer would be last place).
My 1yr anniversary from surgery was August 16. My 40th birthday was August 20. My 1yr follow up with my surgeon is next Friday. And I already know how I am going to introduce myself Tuesday night at support group...
"My name is Lori. I had RNY one year ago, I've lost approximately the weight and inches equivalent to a freshman linebacker, and I am a Triathlete"

Thanks everyone!! I am STILL stoked! My training group had around 60 people at this particular Tri (both the Sprint distance and Olympic). SEVERAL placed, but even still a bunch of them recognized my name (the training coordinator posts anyone who does a tri on the FB page) and were telling me I was great etc. When I said I wasn't racing, I was participating - they all jumped on me and said I WAS racing, no matter if it was just against myself or the pain/exhaustion, it's always a race.
