I've always had female dr's and there's STILL always been a second female in the room during pelvic or breast exams.

i've never had one in the room. i think it's pretty standard that i know going into the exam what they are going to do, and can ask for one if i need to.

Kelly,
I work in a doctor's office and whether the physician is male or female, we always have to have another person in the room when doing any kind of invasive procedure on a female.

Also, I assume that you are having the tubal ligation for sterilizaiton.  I had what is called a ESSURE procedure, which was covered under my insurance.  This procedure is done transvaginally and requires no cutting.  During this procedure, they put stents in your fallopian tubes (have to use a birth control method for 3 months after procdure) and three months later have to have a hysteroscopy to verify that the scar tissue has blocked the fallopian tubes and wala no more babies.  I had the procedure done on a Friday and was back to work on Saturday, so there is no down time.  I had mine six years ago and still no babies...Just thought I would let you know there are other options than having to have another surgery....
